Hi all  How long did you wait before having plastic surgery?  I feel great and with clothes on look decent.   I joke and say that my clothes keep my secrets.  I am a little over a year out and have passed my goal.  I've read that some want us to wait a year after hitting goal and others say a year after the surgery.  Well I'm just getting stoked and would like it done tomorrow.  Don't we all?  Let me know your thoughts.  I'm only thinking of having my midsection and legs done.   Arms are good, lifting weights has helped that.  and not to sound to personal I need the chest fixed.  After the breast cancer I had work done while I was still 267 and now after all the weight loss lets just say they need some improvement.

August 1st will be my 3 yr anniversary. Until the last few months I had kept the weight off but I gained some back and am currently getting it off. I am still waiting for a tummy tuck. I tried to have it done here in Korea, but the base Im at doesn't do them. So we tried going to a Korean doctor and he wants cash up front. Doesn't want to deal with insurance. We leave for a new assignment in the States in a couple weeks. We'll only be there 18 months so I don't know if I'll be able to get it done there or not. I've heard there's a waiting list. At this point, I feel as though I'll never get it done. I'm frustrated. I hope you get yours soon!! Bex

Wow if you have passed your goal go for it.  THat is great work on your part.  I have not had any done yet but still would like to try and have one more baby since it took us 10 years to get pg with my 8 month old.  lol lol  Best of luck to you! Denise

I had my tummy tuck done when I was 16 months post op.  My plastic surgeon said I had been at the same weight for 6 months and he felt it was a good time to do it.  My insurance paid for the tummy tuck, but not for the girls to be lifted!  My sister suggested that I try the insurance a second time for the breast lift, so I am planning to try that again this fall!  Good luck to you and let us all know how you  make out and what your decision is! I had a few PS consults and was told basically the same thing - at least 1 year out from surgery, at goal (whatever goal that may be - basically completely done losing) and have to maintain the weight for anywhere from 3-6 months prior to surgery. Keep in mind if you are going to try and have insurance cover you will have to contact them for their rules - many require you to wait until 18 months out or longer. I will say that as more time has passed my skin has improved, certain areas have improved... I will be interested when I go back to the PS (when I can finally afford surgery) to see what he will now reccomend versus when I went previously!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

I'm close to celebrating my second surgiversary and haven't had any PS done yet. Don't think I will, although I sure could use it. Even if it wasn't for the huge expense, I'm just so scared of pain. I admire all of you that have the guts to go through with it.

I had my tummy tuck 6 months after hitting goal, which corresponded to 1 year out and 1 year ago.  The results were FANTASTIC!  I think how long to wait depends on how much you lost in the first place and how steady your weight has been.  I had mine 'early', but my weight had been steady within 5 lbs for 6 months (after the TT, my weight dropped too much and then I regained).

Thanks for all the tips.  I see the surgeon for my 1 year follow-up so I'll ask him.  The facility I used has a PS on site so they know all the ins and outs of my insurance.  I'll keep you all posted.

I've got mine scheduled for August (BA and LBL). I will be 14 mo. post-op and essentially at goal for close to 6 months by the time I have it done.

The PS told me not to lose any more weight before my surgery and I've lost 5 pounds since I had my consult in Feb. I'm trying to gain a few back before August - but it aint easy!
