Day 1 of 5dpt... wish me luck..
Hi All,
I am new to this particular forum but am a regular poster to others. Anyway, I have read many posts that have encouraged me to get back on the wagon. I am 2 years out and have gained about 12 pounds. Honestly, I think I gained 15 depending on the day. I never made it to goal, but feel like I have failed at this WLS journey because I didn't. I have 30 pounds to go and I really want to succeed in this life style change. There have been many obstacles, but I can't give up, especially since I've come so far. So I have decided to take control of my life, the rest of my life and push forward. Wish me luck as I begin this journey for about the 20th time.... LOL..
Day one is going fine thus far, but I am only 4 hous into it. I will update later.
For anyone else on this new re-journey, good luck and let's do it together...
Kim
awwww *hugs* you shouldnt feel like you've failed at the WLS. Thats so sad :(
YOU CAN DO THIS!! YOU CAN & WILL MAKE IT TO YOUR GOAL!!!
You just have to be stubborn enough to do anything it takes to make it happen!
As someone who is also newer to this board - but a long time vet of OH, let me also say that I seriously dont think you'll find anyone who will say - YA, YOUR A FAILURE - (maybe a good well intended wake up slap in the face, but its only b/c ppl care
). There is lots of support here - which is one reason I am now constantly on this page (LOL!!) I've forgotten how much FUN it & how cool it is to be around like minded ppl who are sharing my daily struugle & know first hand what it is that im going through.
I hope you will agree, that what you find here is a bunch of individuals who are in a similar position (weight wise) who have also returned to the board to find the encouraging strengh & advice on HOW TO regain (lol or reLOSE) their way.
Leslee turned me on to GradPost here & i thank her so much for it!
Since coming back last thursday, i've managed to regain a sence of direction & im focused & determined to get a hold of my weight. So ya, you can this too!!
As far as what ever personal demonds you're facing - I think its the best thing ever that you are reaching out.
Thats the first step.
Dont be afraid to ask for help - speak your mind - or just scream if you wanna :).
As far as what you can do to get back on track & move back toward reaching your goal - try the 5 day pouch test. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Check it out
You'll see a lot of mention of that on this board. Personally, Ive thrown out a challenge to those of us who started the 5dpt on monday to EXTEND days 1 & 2. So its Groundhog day for me (my 2nd day 2) & im doing OK with it.
Best of luck to you & again, welcome to the board.

Sounds like you're doing so great candace! So glad you are loving this forum! It gives me strength every day, I just wish there were MORE postings to read! I've tried talking my niece into joining OH..but she hasn't yet.
you are turning out to be quite the inspiration! Keep it up!

Before/Lowest/Current/Goal I have come too far to take orders from a cookie!
There are so many reasons that the last 15 pounds may still be hanging around. One thing that I always think about is a friend on the RNY board, Terri R. She and I are nearly body twins. Wear the same size clothes, same height...BUT she weighs 165 and I weigh 122...Because? she works out like a demon and weight trains. She could crumble me like so much newspaper and slam dunk me into the nearest dumpster...Muscle will do that.
So don't put too much stock in the number on the scale. The size you are and the amount of muscle you have..Those are not as tangible but they do count.
Good luck to you.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

hi KIM
Here is my two cents.......hehe
even if you THINK you've drank enough...you havent! ...on DAY 1 & 2, i had 4 (FOUR) protein shakes each day......i waited 30 minutes after each one to drink something...but if i didnt just have a shake, i was drinking SOMETHING...whether it was soups, broth, hot tea, crystal light, propel, water or jello...i never felt hungry..i never felt deprived and i never had a craving..DO NOT go cold turkey on caffeine..if you have caffeine on a regular basis..continue to drink it ...just break it up and moderate it..i believe this is where the headaches kick in on Day 2 for most..yes, i had a slight headache upon waking on Day 2, but after my coffee i was fine.
HANG IN THERE, YOU CAN DO IT ...anything you put your mind to!
-hugs-
