Weigh****chers

I hope you don't mind me being totally honest....But it's just an opinion and you are more than welcome to ignore it.  But...I have found that old habits and old diets do not work.  WW is designed for regular people with different anatomies. Before WLS,  I tried WW for a while...but gained double the weight I lost You have a Weight loss tool that works soooo efficiently...and if you really have the will to follow a diet, why not follow the rules that came with your tool?  (No I am not perfect and OFTEN break the pouch rules...but I always come back to them because they REALLY do work when I am on track) I could be wrong, but I just don't believe that those WW type diets worked for the long run...and if you are going to plan on changing your eating habits to get the weight off, you already know that's just a temporary fix, if it even works with WLS...., so why not go back to basics and re-train your brain to listen to your pouch?  Anyway, that's just my humble thoughts on WW or other diets that are not designed to work with our surgery... I know the struggle...I'm 4.5 years PO and every year I gain and lose and gain and lose 10 lbs....It's frustrating.  I've been up two pounds for two weeks and I've been ON TOP OF THEM all weekend and I've got them back under control, I think!  I hope!  I just cut out all the sugar and carby snacks and added some low fat, low cal, veggies to replace desserts and bad snacks that I allowed temptation to get the better of me.  I'm not dieting, I'm just adjusting my recent food binges so I can get back to the RIGHT way that I normally eat.....It truly has been the ONLY way to maintain...I know this...but sometimes, my head and my eyes and mouth just totally ignore my pouch and the rules. My will just goes out the door... If lack of exercise is the problem...you just need to cut back a tiny bit of calories to adjust...Try to find places where you can cut or lower calories enough to be under several hundred a week...and in no time at all you'll adjust and lose...It has worked for me for 4.5 years... It's not as easy as it was in the beginning....that's for certain...so whatever you do...I hope it works out for you and wish you much success!  One thing I do when I have to lose some weight is eat leaner meats all week...I'll eat fish 3 times a week rather than once a week...I'll trade two pieces of bread for a low carb wrap with lean lunch meat...(mustard instead of mayo)  Just an opinion

I welcome all opinions and definitely welcome honesty.  I also embrace the beauty that everyone is different.  Having said that, I am finding that WW is HELPING me use my tool again.  It is getting me back to eating only meals and not grazing- which was my downfall.  I am concious once again of what I am putting in my mouth, because I am keeping track of it.  For some reason, I could not keep up with FitDay, but I guess when I put my money where my mouth is (literally, LOL), I tend to be more accountable.  I am using the Points system, but I am still concentrating on proteins first, veggies and fruits second, and whole grain carbs after that.  So, you see, it can very easily fit in with what we need to do for our anatomies AFTER WLS.  At 21 points, I am currently consuming what I figure to be close to about 1050-1200 calories a day, which is good for slow weight loss. Some of us have a brain that will never "re-train".  That is, it will always want more food - be it a physical or emotional want.  I was unfortunate enough to NEVER feel full after surgery.  I had to measure everything and just stop eating.  My pouch never told me anything.  It still doesn't tell me when it is full.  So I have to find a way to discipline myself.  For some reason, this is working.  It may not be for everyone.  I really do appreciate all input. Well I am glad you found that it's helping you!  I truly am!  I know I need that kickin the rear sometimes too and if it means I have to spend a little money and follow a plan...I'd do it too.   I think often people get so scared of weight gain (since we all know how that goes once it gets out of hand) that we tend to think that maybe those special diets might work now that we are "fixed"....rather than looking at what we are doing wrong and why it is so easy to gain weight afer the honeymoon period.   I didn't know where you stood in your mind set...and YOU definitely have your head together and didn't forget the rules and all....You just needed that little push...I get that all too well!  So don't mind me...LOL So again...I wish yoou much success with it and if you are doing REALLY good....PLEASE share!  LOL Any inspiration is good for those of us with the tendency to get a little behind...which ironically make the behind bigger!  LOL

I don't think there's anything wrong with going to Weigh****chers. I had my surgery in August, have lost about 120 pounds and go to Weigh****chers as often as I can. It's not about the plan (I follow what my surgeon says - not Weigh****chers), and they don't know I've had WLS. However, the support, commraderie and friends are worth it. It helps me to be accountable as well. I also am in three support groups and I'll continue with that too. I think it's just crucial to keep as much of this up as I can. I don't want to regain this weight. If it means going to something like a support group or weigh****chers every day - I'll go! It's going to be a constant struggle - I realize that and maybe it will get easier as the years go by - I don't know. All I know is that in the meantime, I will use every tool, friend, group, everything that is available to me to get this weight off and keep it off!
