Well, here we are again! Alittle mention about TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) that I discovered. did you know the same amount of lean beef or even extra lean beef is the same number of calories as TVP? AND it's got 12 grams of protein compared to beefs 7 or 8 grams for the same amount. Beef has no carbs but TVP has NO fat...I think I may have found something better than beef and that's saying something coming from a heritage of 250 years of cattle raisers...Woo hoo.  Breakfast: 1/3 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup TVP, 1 cup soy milk and 2 cups coffee Snack: 1 oz cheese stick, 1 slice lean ham lunchmeat, medium orange Lunch: 3 oz cooked pork chop, 1 cup lettuce, 2T ranch dressing, 1/4 cup cooked rice, 1/4 cup baked beans Snacks: 12 oz V-8 Juice, 11.5 oz Iced Coffee, 1 Odwalla Super Protein bar Dinner: 4.5 oz cooked pork chop, 1/4 cup baked beans, 1/4 cup cooked rice (at this rate, I think the left overs will go bad before I get them all eaten. Trying to save some money and not throw out stuff so much).  No dessert yet... Totals: Calories: 1772 Fat: 66 Carbs: 170 Protein: 123 Maybe I should stay away from the beans for a while. Even the cat is leaving the room...LOL.  So, how did you all do? Slipped and fell or stayed on course? Either way, come share your day.

when I was a vegan, i use to put some in my yogurt, oatmeal, mixed it in my cottage cheese.  be careful though...i am here to tell everybody that i over ate soy products and used TVP alot when I ate like a vegan... i became allergic to Soy products now.... and my body build up a toxin to it. I ate alot of TVP when i was a vegan... thats what I used a lot , plus morningstar soy / tofu products. Just a warning to anyone who wants to start eating soy/tofu/TVP products  Eat Soy/TVP / tofu foods ... all in moderation.....like I said , you can become serious allergic to Soy products and also your body can build up a toxin to it. also be aware that if anyone has a thyroid problem and has PCOS , should not eat TVP/Tofu products.... it can induce your problems. be careful .... Eat Soy products in moderation only. is this wrong????????????????? i have pcos... i will not let it bother me.. another oh person wrote this... if you are going to eat Soy products make sure that the soy you do eat is from non-GMO foods. If you don't know what non-GMO foods are , please do some research in google.com and educate yourself and read more about non-GMO foods before starting to eat Soy/TVP/Tofu products. before adding TVP and any Soy products to your diet , follow up and speak to your surgeon/nutritionist. when I was a vegan, i use to put some in my yogurt, oatmeal, mixed it in my cottage cheese.  be careful though...i am here to tell everybody that i over ate soy products and used TVP alot when I ate like a vegan... i became allergic to Soy products now.... and my body build up a toxin to it. No. Actually, it's the quick cooking kind. I was using the packets but have a big bucket of the QC. I measured how much was in a packet and it's 1/3 cup so that's what i use of the quick cooking stuff. I put 1/3 cup of the quick cooking oatmeal, 1/4 cup of the TVP, 1 cup of the soy milk and microwave the whole thing three minutes stirring between each minute and watch close the last minute for boil over.  I know that soy products do have their risks. If you eat too much of anything it can't be good Right now, being lactose intolerant and not being able to cook with the whey protein as well, the soy is my protein of choice. I just can not believe the protein levels in comparison to beef...It's amazing. My aunt has been eating soy protein since they discovered her Celiac Sprue because if it's packaged or processed at all, they add wheat to it.

WOW. Those gumdrops were really a killer. Maybe look for some sugar free ones. Even if you hate them, they don't add as much to your totals and if you hate them, you'll keep the number of them down. I found some NSA Peanut Clusters over at Winco some time back and when I crave the nutty chocolate stuff, I pop one of those. I think it helps and if I only have one...it doesn't totally wreck the day.  I know alot of people want to keep eating the sugar stuff when they're diabetic and like us but it all comes down to how much do you LOVE that stuff. Do you LOVE the feeling of SKINNY more than the taste of that stuff?  Maybe the pizza triggered the want of carbs or something. I know if I have rice with dinner, even alittle I'm headed for the popcorn for a dessert...

i think i will send my dad the gum drops. no he dont need them or maybe i should throw them out i got the fruit slices too but i like the gumdrops since they are spice. i had 4 of each flavor and there are 5 flavors. even the sugar free stuff i want so i guess i better just leave the stuff alone for a while. i wish sugar made me dump. it dont as you can see. i wish i could start over and say no to the bad white stuff and everything else. well not sure i did eat the cheese off the homemade pizza. you know what the TVP is good in my oatmeal i have it again right now.

It takes time to learn new habits. If you can switch to sugar free stuff it might help that craving. the less sugar you have, the less you will crave it. I understand about the sugar and not dumping. I don't dump as much as I used to, truth be told, but because I think I don't dump now on sugar, I stay away from it even more. The sugar free stuff gives me a belly ache sometimes and that's good because if I eat too much of it, I can be SURE I'll get a stomachache.. The white carbs is the same deal. I know I used to really have a problem with it (addiction) but when I started to eat it after WLS it wasn't as good. Didn't make me feel good anymore. So I stay away from it. Occasionally I'll have a slice of wheat toast at breakfast, but I eat the best part (the middle) and leave most of the crust...I ruin the whole piece of toast picking at it.  I saw where South Beach has a protein pizza..30 grams of protein for a single serving pizza...I think I may have to give that a try..

yes .. its been 4 years.. i should start new habits. yes i do buy sf stuff sometimes but like hubby says if its in the house we both want to eat it..  i did buy some wheat pasta but havent tried it yet. he loves the white carb stuff.. now i am trying to decide what to eat for meals and with protein. i did buy the south beach pizza a while ago well i think thats the brand i bought. i knew it was whole wheat crust and the sauce had a kick to it which i didnt care for. so havent tried them since.

Well, if he wants to eat it too...That's okay. it's not going to hurt him to limit his intake too. That's what I think. I have my own cabinet with my treats and stay away from their treats but I let them eat it if they want... I saw a couple different types of the SoBe pizza's. I'm going to give each one a try and figure out if I like them..I like alittle kick sometimes in the sauce on pizza. Some of it can be like plain tomato paste and that's not tasty..LOL I like to use the example of water for learning new habits. People who smoke usually light up as soon as they start the car. That got me to thinking (cuz hubby does that) if I have water to drink or SOMETHING to drink in the car, each time I start it up, I'm a captive audience and will drink it on the way to where I'm going. So now, I get thirsty as soon as I start up the car...New habit? Probably. It's all about repetition.
