Well, the weekend is officially over. My daughter gave me a ration about drinking a whole shot and a half yesterday. sheesh. Most people drink that in ONE DRINK...LOL. I'm such a light weight.. Today was a really lazy day, recovering from staying out till midnight. What an old woman I am!  Breakfast: oatmeal, TVP, Soy milk and coffee at 5 am this morning. up WAY too early! Second Breakfast: 4 oz (maybe 5) of ribeye steak and 2 fried eggs, 1/2 cup hash browns Snack: 2 oz beef jerky, 14 whole wheat crackers, 2T Soybutter Dinner: 4 oz pork chop, 1/4 cup rice, 1/4 cup canned baked beans (yum, Bushes Grillin Beans)  Dessert; 1/6 of a SF Angel Food Cake, 1/2 cup NSA applesauce and 1 serving of SF Caramel sauce (by Smuckers..yumo)  Totals for the day:  Calories; 1944 Fat: 84 Carbs: 161 Protein: 140 So, it's back on track for the work week...Knuckle down and git er done time for me.. How did your weekend progress? Did you detour and have to re-adjust and head in the right direction again? Or did you stay right on course and head for the clear sailing we all wish for...Come on, share!

Clear sailing for me!!  I am through with day 5 of the dpt.  I must say that I feel 100% better.  Cleaning out the carbs really helped.  I can't believe I feel so much better with the carbs!  I wish that I didn't love them so.  Why is it such a "comfort" food in my head when my body tells me different?  Just one more thing to sort through.  I haven't weighed since I started this 5dpt so tomorrow I'm heading to the docs. office to weigh. (I don't and will not own a scale).  I'll post the results tomorrow.  Even if I don't lose any wt. this was a wonderful way to get back to basics, intouch with my pouch and start over.  Today I slept late late late so I had:  4 oz. steak, 1 protein drink, 1cup chicken salad, 64 oz. water, 1Diet Dr.Pepper (I no-no).  Before I go to sleep I'll have another protein drink or more steak.  This is the first time I've tried the 5dpt.  I guess on day 6 I can start adding in some veggies? I can't believe what I slip I just made.  My correction to above reply should say "I feel so much better without the carbs" -- not with the carbs!  OOPS! Dancin'D

I understood what you meant. That's cool that the 5dpt works so well. I know that when I was really feeling exasperated, just one day of fasting put my head straight...I have to think the 5dpt has to work like that with carbs! See ya!

Ok, my first day on the accountability thread. And it would have been a PERFECT day if I didn't end up eating pizza...but it's a long story, and I was starving, but boy it added up the carbs and calories! it's so much easier to be in control of what you eat when you're not at someone else's place for dinner. So Breakfast : 3 egg beater egg omelet with cheese and veggies *perfect* Lunch: Green salad with balsalmic vinegarette dressing and 4 oz chicken *perfect* * EXCELLENT SO FAR, with all the working out I did my net calories was only 77 to this point! Then dinner happened.* Dinner: 2 papa johns breadsticks, two pieces of pizza and a salad with creamy italian dressing. *not so perfect* Bedtime protein snack: 1/2 cup cottage cheese and an EAS protein shake. *perfect*

Total Calories = 1583, Net Calories = 1077, Carbs = 124 Protein = 104 grams Not bad considering it was a pizza dinner...tomorrow will be better tho. I'll be home for all my meals so I'll have more control. Leslee

Pretty good..actually. Isn't it amazing when you see how those carbs and calories start staking up? I went into calorie count shock when I saw what margarine was...Whew!  I have less control when Im at home because at home my son and husband have all sorts of goodies around. I pack my lunch when I leave for work and ONLY include my own mix of acceptable treats. When I really get "BAD" I actually run out and buy something to eat on my lunch break but that's counter to my natural way...I'm cheap, I'm lazy and I hate the heat...I'd rather sit inside when t's hot and starve then go out in the heat and get something to munch on... Really good protein number and the calories aren't too bad. And like you said, you did work them off. Maybe a walk after dinner would have helped too?  See ya!

That's the ticket...Get to looking at what you're eating and tweek it alittle to adjust the direction you're going in..Those burgers are just too convenient for  me to have. I found that I eat too fast and too much if I eat with my hands. a fork and a knife and I'm remembering to slow down and chew...But before WLS..I used to feel like I could unhinge my jaws like a snack and INHALE a burger...Now I look at that and think, no WAY! Even the low carb versions they have here now. In california the restaurants are wise to that anymore. They have NO=carb burgers where they wrap the burger patty and fixin's in a lettuce leaf...You have to thank all the fruits and nuts in California for thinking of that! We have a friend who has Celiac Sprue (issues with glutten and wheat) and he's wise to all that stuff. I've gotten some pretty good ideas from him!

Yes. I put the TVP right in with the oatmeal as I cook it in the microwave. You can do it on the stove top too. I have heard that if you soak the TVP in boiling water and prepare it like ground beef, it makes awesome tacos... But back to the oatmeal. 1/4 cup in a bowl of oatmeal or you can put 1/2 cup in there...Makes it thicker and chunky but it's got a sort of nutty flavor to it. Works really good with oatmeal.
