I am over 4 years post op and have had multiple issues.  Today however, I cannot keep ice tea down let alone food.  I have zofran and took one which was no help.  I took another which seems to be helping.  Just kind of tired and discouraged of all this feeling bad.  I have been taking milk of magnesia and eating flax muffins which seem to have solved the constipation until this weekend and now it is back...sigh.  Today I was a little concerned because there was some blood botht imes I went.  No pain...just a little blood and now this throwing up foam and ice tea.  I am jsut looking fo rideas and sympathy.  If I am not better tomorrow I will call doc.  Last night I had severe pain (I would rate it an 8)across my whole abdominal area.  I had already taken some pain med because we were at a wedding and I wanted to get through that.  Can't imagine the pain without meds.  Then I came home and took my Ambien and slept for 12 hours.  Still dont feel that good today.  I think it is probably an ulcer and I am alos on carafate.  If its not bette rin 2 weeks my doc will scope me. Alice

Hi Alice, I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. You have my sympathy. Your situation sounds quite complex, so I won't comment on it all. i think it is a good idea to talk to your dr if you are having abdominal pain. Re: your constipation. Have you tried adding some Benefibre daily? Also, how about a stool softner? Fibre, stool softner and watr are the most likely things to help with your constipation. If your BMs are hard, they may be scraping the sides of your colon, which would account fr the bleeding. Make sure your pain meds do not contain codeine. It can be very constipating. Come to think of it, lots of other pain meds can be constipating as well. I would suggest you check with a pharmacist about that. It must be very hard to ge enough fluids in when you are so nauseated. Can you take small sips at a time?  You probably know all of this alread. Take care, and I hope you feel better soon. Don't take any chances....this far out it could be anything...if you've never had these symptoms before with the ulcer....you might ask your doc about adhesions or twisted bowel.  It happens.

It seems to me like it is time to call your gastric bypass surgeon today.  I would be concerned with dehydration issues, in your inabilty to keep fluids down.  The blood in your stool could be from hard stools and hemorrhoids, but it sounds like these issues should be checked out immediately. The pain in your abdomen could be the result of a bowel obstruction. Don't wait, these symptoms should be run by your doctor.  Now.
