Hello all! I am on day four of the 5dpt. I couldn't believe it today because I experienced what I had for several months following surgery. I got very nauseated and had the "foamies." This happened right after I drank a little diet pop. I know I probably shouldn't have been drinking that, but I've been drinking it for some time now.  Anyway, anyone else have this happen? Thanks!!

What are the "foamies?" Does it occur with all WLS procedures or one in particular? Sorry to be ignorant but I keep seeing that term and haven't a clue! Sorry you're struggling with them though. ..

I think it's what they told us is called "frothing" where you salivate a lot and have to keep spitting it out and it's kinda foamy and frothy, but you can't just swallow it back down ..hard to explain, but if it's what I've experienced then it's pretty common for a lot of people with RNY bypass, but people usually experience mostly the months just following surgery, I still experience now and then if a chip or something gets stuck....it's weird, have you ever experienced it Donna? When I was a new post-op and ate chicken this happened. I knew I needed to throw up but my body wasn't cooperating.  Funny I'd never heard of foamies or frothing. I do remember being extremely miserable for hours until that damn chicken finally went down!

Congrats on day 4 of the 5dpt.  I hope you are feeling better even tho you had the foamies!!  I have never experienced them.  Sorry to be of no help but wanted you to know that you are supported in your efforts of the 5dpt.  I'm on day 5 and really feel much better, back in touch with pouch and feel full!!  I do drink Dr. Dr.Pepper even tho I shouldn't.  I have restricted it to one a day.   Dancin'D

Thanks sooo much.  There are many ways to "get there".  I'm glad  you are finding what works for you.  I'll post tomorrow after I weigh at the Dr's office if I lose any.  BUt if not, I'm ok with feeling better, getting to know my pouch again and being off the carbs! D

I get that foamy if I eat too much or way to fast.  I found that when I slow down it doesn't happen.  I don't know what the actual cause is.  I go to the Dr on Thursday for my 1 year I'll ask him and get back to you.
