THANK YOU!  I guess it sounds fairly simple and I should have thought about it but I have been sooooo anti diety mode because it only made things worse pre opp. that I didn't even allow myself to entertain the thought of restricting myself to what felt like a diet vs healthy eating habbets.  I guess Like "normal" people they too have their tricks of the trade to staying trim so, so do we.  Not one feeling that is easy for me I have always felt such guilt and shame around them that it was such a relief post opp to not feel guilt or shame when I would hear diet adds or commercials that I never even entertained the thought and felt it was wrong to put my self mentally back in that mind set.  I guess I need to look at it differently now as getting back to basics.....  what a reality check.  Thank you so much.

Hi, I would like to know how you can gain a lot of weight after wls if you stomach is small? Do you still have to take as many vitamins, and drink protien being this far post-op?

Toby, your stomach is an organ that is very flexible.  after wls it is very small but over time stretches out.  It may not be able to stretch out as big as it was pre-wls but it definately gets bigger than the ping pong ball post-op size.  that and the choices in food and/or exercise can be a factor.  either way, we have to be diligent on following the rules or we gain. (I to have gained 30 pounds after 4 years post-op) Vitamins will be a part of our lives forever, but I personally never drank protien shakes.  I have a severe aversion to anything that has the remote familiarity to fake sugar.  (mental I know, but real nontheless! LOL)

toby for me it was an injury and the loss of a walking partner that crippled me.  I am just recovering from an injury and hope to start walking again soon.  The lack of excersize put the weight back on me because I did not adjust what I was eating.  I needed to but I started out at nearly 400 lbs and my addiction to food is a strong one and so the lack of walking really hurt w/ the waist line. Also when a person starts off at such a high weight their is a lot of skin that needs to be deal**** some point and for me as a fibromyalgia sufferer the skin made things much worse and it hindered the ability to get moving so I had my tummy tuck and soon will be going in for my breasts (which currently hurt my back a lot) and that hopefully will get me back on the road to walking along w/ some cortizone shots in the knee.   STILL THE BEST THING I EVER DID even though I am in constant pain.  Unbelievable knowing I am in pain but honestly it really is the best move I have made to date w/ my life.
