I am also seven years out, and I started at 370 as well. I got down to 185 for about five minutes. I stay somewhere between 190 and 200. I know it is a big spread, but I know when I am eating poorly, it moves up. It has been as high as 213, and I had to reign it in. Sugar is my demon, and I dump on certain foods, but I avoid those. I am butt/heavy, so I never lost very much weight in my reductions. PS said four surgeries for my inner thighs alone (three PS gave the same advice) and I am not willing to undergo this much work. I work out hard cardio 5-6 days a week. I weight lift 3 days a week. My resting heart rate is in the low 40's to low 50's, athelete level. So, most of the time I am pretty happy. However, I am like you, I had 175 in mind, and this would have put me in the normal range of weight for my height. I may never reach his number, and it is frustrating. It is not like I am wanting to weigh 125. At this point and this far out, I think we will have to really work at taking off this extra weight. Have you tried mini meals all day long? When I am losing well, this plan works very well for me. I usually have 6-7 small meals a day. They are normally 200-225 calories each. I eat about every 2 hours or so. I try to have protein mixed with a good carb (usually high fiber) . Lunch and dinner always has vegies, to keep things humming. It is worth a try. Good luck to you and all the others that are working hard to make it down the same pathway.
Hi thanks so much for your reply. eating the small meals often works great for me. I have fibromyalgia and the walking is the issue. I use to walk 4 plus miles a day sometimes up to 8. I could eat anything I wanted and I would always loose wieght but never fot under 212. then I had an issues I just found out if arthritus in my knee and I stopped walking all together and I feel awful w/ the weight I have put back on. I feel heavy and pulled over and top heavy which is reaking havok on my back. but I think I will commit to you all that weather permitting tomorrow I will get my bum out their walking. I also lost my walking partner so that is hard too. she and I walked faithfully 43-4 times a week and I would try to fill in the missing days. she looks amazing and has kept the weight off (granted she only started at 230 ish lbs) but still it is a bummer. LOL I am jeliouse and glad for her all at once. I need to get a walking partner. she was an amazing partner to have. relentless and she and I always seemed to motivate each other. So Monday I actually have a root canal and I will try to walk prior to that if not absolutly for sure Tuesday..... thanks all
OMG, I could have written your post, except I'm only 33 months post-op and not 7 years! We have similar food habits (mini-meals), workout routines and starting points (I started at 396). I'm working to maintain in the 183-185 range, but I've only been here for a couple weeks. Not sure whether I'll be able to stay here long-term, but I'm hopeful!!!!
It's good to see a post from someone much further out than I with similar habits that are working pretty well....
Good luck on your continuing journey -

Kellie-It is also good to hear from someone that started around the same weight, and it working the same path! If you get a handle on wherever your key issue lies, you can do well, or go down; whatever it is that you are seeking to do. I know my issue is the devils food "sugar." I really don't have trouble with any other foods. The mini meals work great for me, when I am really doing what is best for my surgery and my health. The best to you and all your tiny meals!
If you need to get back on track, you can also do the 3 day liquid protein train. It does not require special food like the 5 day pouch test. They are the same principles, get back to basics and up the protein intake... here is the link.
