Hi I am 7 years out and I have put about 30lbs back on.  I am getting ready to finally go in for PS and I am depressed because I have put weight back on.  I started out at about 370 and I noteced a lot of people who started about the same as me end up around 200 - 250.  do you all think this is fairly common?  I am totally fustrated w/ myself because I am not below 200 and just alloud myself to ballon back up to 250 from 212.  I was sooooo close to getting under 200.   would love to hear from those of you who started out in the similar range.  I found I was in a lot of pain w/ all the excess skin from loosing about 100 - 120 lbs and could not loose more until I had my tummy tuck.  Now I am in pain from the chest dragging me down.  UHG  Normal? thanks

I started at about 368 and got down to 190, I'm only two and a half years out and I've gained back up to 220...it may be "normal" and "common" but man..I just can't let it be 'acceptable'. I know a lot of us that started that high only got down to that low, but I also know people who got down to size twig lol, I'm not really sure what to do.. right now I'm trying to "follow the rules" and do my best to "do my part" and get serious about the working out. Honestly, i believe the surgery did it's thing..it's not going to be easy at this point, the "honeymoon" stage is LOOOOONG over, we still have the 'tool" and we have a fighting chance....a chance we probably didn't really have at 370 because we could barely get off the couch right? But now we have the ability to move, and we need to count our blessings and take advantage of that blessing to move. Surgery is the best thing I could have ever done. I'm saddened and a bit disapointed in myself for not going "all the way'....but I believe we still have the ability to "get there" Keep in touch and we'll work this out! I think coming here is the first step. Leslee

Hi thank you for your kind words it really helps knowing that others are out their in the same shoes struggling to get under that magic number of 200.  I really let myself go and I got very depressed over it and stopped walking due to som issues w/ my joints not good.  So I have had a cortizone shot and hopefully that will help me get back on the move.  I hate feeling this way after struggling sooo much.   I found out my plastic surgery (tummy tuck) was not 100% succesful so I have to go back in and I am going to try to loose weight before hands but it is so hard to get started.  I guess the honey moon is over and that is that.  I have 2.5 year old b/g twins and they keep me busy and I just don't have the energy for them.  I still have my sleep disorder apparently mine will never go away said the doctor but I am tired so hearing from you all that you struggle too and we can all try to do this together is a big help and support system so thank you soooooo much!

Good point, Leslee! We CAN move now and it feels great! I need to remember that when I'm being my old lazy self. I too have gained back about 30 pounds and am back on track with eating and exercise. I like what you said about it being normal and common but how you can't let it be acceptable. Well, I'm right there with ya!! It's not too late. We can start over any time! Thanks for the inspiration!
Peace & Love, Donna K.

Hey there, I hear your frustration!!  I remember my rny surgeon saying that I could expect to lose 60-80% of what I needed to from the surgery then I would have to do the rest myself.  I started out at 450lbs.  I lost 210lbs.  So by Dr.s calculations,  the rny was successful.  BUT I am still obese!!!  I am comorbs free now, I can walk without huffing & puffing.  I can stand on my feet for hours shopping etc.  I did have a thighlift/tt/arms&knee plastic surgery.  He took off alot!!  I still would like to lose a whole lot more.  I have gained about 5-10lbs. off and on since my lowest wt.  I have maintained that for about 1 1/2 years.   My goal is to get under 200 too!  I really have no wise words of wisdom for you. Just wanted to let you know someone else in y our position is out here! I started the 5 day pouch test 4 days ago.  Hopefully I'll be able to go back to basics and hang tough!  Good luck to  you and your plastics. The link is www.5daypouchtest.com.  I am on day 5 today!!  I feel so much better!  I can even feel my depression lifting.  Amazing how carbs work on me!   I am going to weigh at the Dr.s tomorrow so I'll update everyone on IF I lost any weight on this.  However, even if I didn't I am back in touch with my pouch and eating like I'm suppose to.  How to break a bad habit?  ......... Replace it with a new one!!  Hopefully that is what I've done.  More later.... Dancin'D

Hi, I am almost 4 years post op. I did absolutely great but only spent one day under 200 before I balanced out at 203. I weight 331 at surgery. Now, I have gained back around 30 pounds. I tell myself I am compliant but I could be a lot more and I must admit this. Like everyone else, I need to get moving and get with the long term maintenance plan. So, I am making out a new menu today. I too have the 5 day pouch renewal printed out and am thinking about this. Good luck to everyone! Deb
