Hi  Just got home from shopping and stopped off for one of my Latte treats.  I get a SF Vanilla also FF. Well today the gal was ready to get home and I guess wasn't paying attention.  I got about 1/4 of the drink down a medium  and began to have that belching sensation some of us get.  Then it  hit me.  I've been sick for the last hour.  I think it's out of my system but holy ^&&^.  I am usually so very careful.  hey like one of you Think Missus said.  This puppy was nailed really hard on the nose.  May stay away from the coffee shop for  awhile.  I can easily make them at home.  Friendly advise really watch them when they make you something..  I didn't.... wish I had

oh no, i am so sorry this happened to you. YES! You really need to watch what they do! What I usually say to these servers - PLEASE - you have to MAKE SURE that you ONLY USE SUGAR FREE otherwise i will get deathly sick.  Please make sure that you ONLY add sugar free and NOT the FULL sugar in my coffee.  Also if that person is ready to go home, tell her , its okay , i will wait for the next person who can help me, I see that you are in a rush and i don't want my order to be screwed up on me like last time i was here. I got deathly sick from someone adding full sugar in my coffee. I need to be careful. i can't have ANY sugars. I am a diabetic.  thats what i usually say.  Because i don't want to ever get sick when I am out and driving. I already have and it is not a good feeling so i know how you are feeling right now. Becareful next time and look them in the EYES and tell them PLEASE PAY ATTENTION when you make my coffee ... please I CAN NOT HAVE ANY SUGAR! and stand there and watch them prepare it. I hope you feel better soon, hang in there!! Lizzy

Happened to me once too at Panera.  Luckily I was sitting waiting for a friend and not behind the wheel of my car because I SUDDENLY had the everything is narrowing down to a pinpoint of light sensation and almost passed out in the comfy leather chair I had dropped my butt into. Now I NEVER trust the coffee folks and always just order coffee iced or hot (at Starbuck's that would be an iced Americano with rim) and add my milk and splenda.  Can't afford to take a dive into the on-coming freeway lane due to a careless barista.

I would contact the company!!  They could kill someone with an allergy...diabetes... etc! Horrible!   And I make those for a living!  I would never make that mistake! Hugs

It can happen when people don't understand the possilbe consequences. I'm hyper sensitive to sugar and watch like a hawk cuz, like you, it effects me for HOURS. I sure don't plan to lose a half day when it happens but that's what happens.  Glad you'refeeling better.  See ya!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I agree - watch them and make sure they use SF syrups.  They don't (nor should they have to) think like bariatric or diabetic patients.  Most are young, never had to be on a strict diet.  They aren't professionals... just part time job kind of teenagers for the most part.  But, do make sure to watch out for your health by ensuring that they use SF. Recently I was chatting with two Starbucks baristas and one said "the skinny latte is sugar free."  I wanted to correct her but for the sake of time, kept silent.  If you had half of a medium (12 oz) latte, that is approx 8-9 sugar grams.  That could have made you sick even if you don't normally dump on "milk sugars".

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I have gotten to where I keep a small bottle of sugar free caramel syrup in my purse and I add it myself to decaf and use skim milk. It saves me money, caffiene, and calories ... I'm lucky and don't have dumping syndrome, so I wouldn't suffer the uncomfortable consequences you did, but I don't want the calories. I don't know if carrying your own might work for you. I use one of the little containers  you use to carry shampoo in you luggage that carries just a few ounces. Just a thought.
