Eating because...

Morning Jacki, I have yet to add salad back into my diet ~ just afraid I will get too full before getting in the required protein.  My meals are protein & veggies/fruit.  Last 2 days have been 3oz of chicken breast w/ 1/4c ff cottage cheese & 7 grape tomatoes.  Today I've got 1/2 pita pocket w/2oz turkey & swiss w/ 1/4c ff cottage cheese and 7 cubes of cantaloupe.  Fills me up and I generally have an afternoon snack on my way home about 4:30 of a protein bar (easy to eat while driving ). I'm learning to accept the ever changing journey...just gets a little (ok a LOT) frustrating at times.  Especially when I know I'm eating when I'm not really hungry just to get in the right amount of calories and protein.

I figure it's so much better than ice cream (even low fat/low cal stuff).  But, I'm frustrated because I know I'm not hungry I just am fighting a non-winning battle.  What do  I do.  Today the scale is down to 119.6.  I'm supposed to gain.  I don't want to but I can't seem to anyways??? OK, it seems like you want to gain weight or at least stop losing more.  The answer to this is simple: Eat more.  But, when I could not stop losing, putting this into practice took some work!  It got to the point I could not increase volume any more so I looked to other solutions.  The biggest help was eliminating light foods and going toward the FULL version. I notice you said you had Greek yogurt and SF chocolate syrup.  Was the greek yogurt fat free (120 calories) or full fat (210 calories)?  No sense in eating fat free if you need calories.  Why Sugar Free chocolate syrup?  If you do not dump get the Hershey's Syrup with sugar.  I know, after years and years and years of diets and obesity this thinking is alien. If you're like me, this will create some anxiety:  What if I like the real foods and I gain and I can't go back to light foods?  That's a concern but I managed to find my way.  Some things went back to being light, some full foods remain.  It's matter of preference, satiety and doing what works for you.

I keep thinking about the frozen greek yogurt:)  How do you do that?  Just freeze it?  Dumb questions, I guess;)

Nope, not a dumb question at all.  It really depends on how you like it.  For the one I mentioned I mix 1/2 cup of greek yogurt and 1 packet of sweet-n-low together in a container.  I then cut up 3 or 4 strawberries and stir them in.  I freeze that for about 3 hours so it's not rock hard.  When I'm ready to eat it I add 2 tbsp of sugar free chocolate syrup, 2 tbsp lite whipped topping and 1 tbsp fisher's nut topping.  Enjoy like an ice cream sundae.  My other favorite is mixing 1/2 cup greek yogurt with 1 packet of sweet-n-low.  Put 2 tbsp of peanut butter in the microwave for 10 seconds then mix it into the yogurt.  Freeze for 3 hours but not long enough to make it a rock.  Add 2tbsp sf chocolate syrup or 2tbsp mini chocolate chips = peanut butter cup!!!

Okay that makes sense!  I have seemed to reach my limit of more so I do need to look at buying "regular" food rather than the fat free or lite.  The greek yogurt is the fat free but it's the only one that has less than 9 grams of sugar.  That's my other dilemma ~ I can only have 9 grams of sugar or 12 sugar/sugar alcohol combo.  That's why the sugar free syrups.  It's such a difficult transition!! Mentally is the problem ~ yup I've been extremely stressed out about it.  My OCD goes into over-drive!!

"The answer to this is simple: Eat more. " yup, that's what the doctor said too. I need to eat more. I could cut out the salad but I really like it and need the roughage to keep the system MOVING. But I do have slider foods, banana, pudding (sugar free cuz I dump on sugar) and yogurt with protein from TVP, oatmeal...cheese sticks wrapped in lunch meat..But I guess I need to quit with the salads. It's just I can eat so much more salad than say pasta. Pasta I can just about eat a half cup in one meal. Withsalad...2 cups and I have room for more.  And then there's the whole mental thing. I should be happy when the scale goes up but I'm not. Nothing works on that but time. I'm working on it. Thanks!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
