My ironic answer to weight regain...
Well, its been almost three years since my RNY. I lost 140 pounds and then regained about 13. The smallest size I got down to was a 12-14, thats from a 28-30. Since Im a grandmother and really didnt want to look like a hag, I was glad to stop at that size.
However, over the holidays I gained about 13 pounds! No matter what I did,,I couldnt get them to budge! More protein, more water, walking, counting calories and carbs,,,only 2-5 pounds would move, then come back. Ok, so I decided just to keep doing everything right and if I lost it, ok,,if not,,I was a size 16 so that was a lot better than the 28-30.
Well, my sweet husband has always wanted a dog of his own, a miniature schnauzer, An opportunity came up for him to get one very cheaply,,so we grabbed it. It was only 6 months old and had been kept in its crate almost entirely. She needed housetrained and socialized. Since hubby works all day and Im retired,,guess who got the job??! You guessed it,,I started Betsys Doggie Daycare and Training Academy! Now, I must tell you that I already have a dog of my own, a sweet tempered 7 year old long haired 16 pound chihuahua named Taco. So, now I not only take taco for a few walks per day,,i take Sugar,,but they cant go together yet,,Sugar is too hyper! So, here I am for the last two weeks getting in about a half dozen short walks per day!
Saturday I put on a dress I hadnt worn in a while , and noticed that it was a lot loser than it had been. I thought,,,hmm,,,whats the deal??
So I got in the closet and started trying on my smaller clothes. They all fit! My granddaughter came over and brought me a suit that she had purchased (shes in college) and said it was too big for her,,did I want it? It was a 14, so I thought, well, Ill try it and see. WOOHOO!
It fit perfectly! Then Sunday at church several people commented on the fact that I must be losing again. I was amazed,,,and then realized..its all that Doggie related activity!
I hadda laugh! All those months of stressing and worrying and wondering,,counting and keeping track,,,and all it took was a puppy to get me up and moving!! The good Lord has a sense of humor!!
Gotta get to bed now,,Sugar will be up early in the morning!
Just wanted to share!
Be Blessed Ya'all

I, too, am nearly 3 years out and have regained a few pounds. Thanks to your post, I've told hubby we needed a new baby in the house ( the four-legged furry kind). I'm also going to strap on the ol' walking shoes and get my fanny moving! I saw the doc today and he gave me new meds for my back pain. Maybe it will do the trick.
Thanks for your post! You've inspired me.

You know? I was thinking lately that my activity level during the day (short walks between buildings several times a day) wasn't enough and that I needed to log on some miles or something to really tell where I was but I think I'll stick with the short walks all day long..
I'm not trying to lose but just wondered WHY I'm not gaining and that's probably it.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hey everybody, thanks for the posts! I think I figured out part of why its working so well. I walk first thing in the morning, and I just read on Sparkpeople that it will jump start your metabolism for the day!
I guess I should buy my doggies a new toy or treat for helping me succeed eh? LOL I think they are training ME,,instead of the other way around.
Whatever,,its working!
Have a great day all!
Blessings
