Have you Met your goal?
I am curious. I am 20 months out from RNY and have lost 104lbs. I have since gained 10 back and struggle to maintin. I never met my goal of 180 that my RN set at the surgeon's office. I started at 318, and got down to 214. I am now between 224-226 each day. I am wondering how many of us didn't reach goals yet and how we are handling that.
I am sad that I haven't lost anything in 8 months. I have changed my routine, have watched what I eat, though I know exactly what kind of issue I have with self destruction. (Just read that article and can associate with it).
For those that have met your goals? How did you do it? I know someone that had surgery and she has gone from one extreme to another. She is now underweight and not very healthy looking. Thanks for the insight.

"I know someone that had surgery and she has gone from one extreme to another. She is now underweight and not very healthy looking." That would be me.
Actually, the number on the scale is just that..A number. If you are exercising and have put on muscle you are going to weigh more than if you don't move around at all. A friend, Terri R, on the RNY board weighs about 40 pounds more than me and is the same height and size as me. She's really really fit, I'm not so much. So you can't really tell by the scale or the BMI number unless you look at the whole picture. How tall, what size, what level of fitness or muscle tone?
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Yes I met my goal... and am below my surgeons of 165 and my own of 125. How I did it was by tracking everything that goes into my mouth everyday.
Tracking is the key... I believe that with all my heart. That and weighing two to three times a week.
Hope you cant meet your goal too... but remember be proud of what you have done already!
Start Weight - 263
Current Weight 135 and making it work for ME !
I'm way below goal weight. I had stalled for a while about 15lbs above goal weight, and then it seems like a new medication I started taking kicked my metabolism into overdrive or something because I started steadily losing again. Sorry I can't give a better answer as to how or why...
You've done great so far though! Are you tracking your food intake to monitor calories?

Hey Molly....
I'm almost 6 years PO and got down to 177 (160 goal) then I started gaining. I've gained 25lbs back but now I'm on track again and have lost 6 lbs in the past 2 weeks. I think the reason I started gaining was because I had a hysterectomy and started eating more (and the wrong things) and not excersizing. Well I have started over with my eating (protein first, then veggies... not drinking while I'm eating and not snacking between meals). I am excersizing again and I'm finding that my pouch still works!!!!! Anyway, try to go back to the basics and get moving again, it's working for me and hopefully it will work for you too! Stop beating yourself up also... 104 lbs is wonderful!!! We just have to reset our minds and get back to it.
Take care!!!!

I am 2.5 years post op. "Goal" was not discussed in detail but I know my surgeon thinks I am there. Once I got into the range of normal weight (never having been a normal weight adult) I think I need to lose another 15 pounds. I haven't hit a regain...... just the five pound, depends on the time of month bounce. I weigh myself daily. I don't panic but I keep an eye on it.
I have never exercised. I want to. I keep saying it and never make it a habit. Oh, I do some things now and then, but nothing purposeful. It eludes me........... that endorphin high from exercising.
Love these discussions. Every person's contribution helps. Thanks.

I'm 15 months out 5 4 and 160lbs I wear a size 8-10 my goal has been met. I'm healthy I can run with my children and are finally living instead of watching life pass me by.
Now The goal wt is 140ish will I ever see it??? I work everyday at being healthy ....if one day the scale hits 140 then that will be a bonus.
