What's the 5 day pouch test?
I probably need to try this test. I am almost one year out (6/22/07), and noticing some weight gain and bad habits. Since my last weigh-in I've gained about 3 pounds. I am feeling kind of depressed because I'm afraid I'll get fat again. I am now in a weight training class at school (of my own free will), but I am still not happy. I think I'm starting to get depressed. I snack a lot and I've started drinking a lot of pop (coke). I was addicted to pop before the surgery. Any advice would be appreciated. HELP!

If you are weight training remember to add calories. I just read an interesting blog that mentioned net calories which is your total number of calories eaten in a day:
calories eaten - calories burned = net calories. Your net calories should be about 1200 for where you are at post-op. Do you track you food intake? I use thedailyplate.com which helps track not only the food I eat but the calories I burn to help figure the net calories. There are other sites too if you google calorie counting.
If you go to the main forum there was an post about drinking pop/soda with some really good information - check it out!
Noticing the habits is key...now that you know what they are you can stop them before they get out of control.
Good luck...You are doing FANTASTIC!!!!!
Morning,
First off try to stop the soda. I was told that and popcorn were BIG NO NOs. Anyway you'll work through that. I can tell you from my past experience ( in one of my skinny lives) I was an aerobic's instructor and also taught weight training. Muscle does weigh more than fat. I know we hate to hear that but that's what they say. What are your clothes telling you?? I'm also a year out my surgery was 5/06. and I also know that feeling of being terrified of gaining the weight again. What I have found over the last few weeks and being on this site was to go back to the beginning. Write everything you eat down. Little plate during meals. CHEW CHEW and CHEW And measure everything. You might see that your really doing alright in you habits. well except for the soda
. Also take some time to remember why you had the surgery a year ago. If you have a journal please reread it. It may help you remember why you did this. I've also said this to other's before. You have to love yourself more than the food. Love the healthy beautiful body you have now and look back. Which is better and then try working through that. and the depression,,, it isn't a bad thing to get professional help. That's what they do and maybe having that may help you. I wish you the best and if you need a word of encouragment I'm here and a HUG to you as well.
Remember you are always loved even if you don't see it

Hi Donna,
Sure, I'll do the test with you. How do you want to go about supporting each other? Should we log on each day to see how we're doing? Let me know.
I'll make sure I have everything I need. Yes, I can drink a lot of regular Coke, I don't like diet soda. Coke has always been the item that comforted me.
Thanks you for replying. I forgot how helpful this website could be.
