Batwings! xpost

Okay ... I know I'm whining... I posted photos of myself earlier and didn't post the "Batwings" photo because we never like to look at that stuff and I've gotten some lovely comments about how nice I look. I decided that I should 'fess up' and let you see the real photo, so you can see that if I'm a good girl and keep my arms down I look relatively 'normal' but when I put my arms up ... well, then I could probably levitate if I got really excited and started waving wildly.

First of all you look great! I do know what you mean emotionally though as I have crepe paper  wrinkled  and loose arms since weight loss and havent gone sleeveless yet. I am more self conscience about the wrinled look verses the loose skin. Goodnes you think i could just be happy being 12 sizes smaller!!!!

If you check my latest profile blog entry, you'll see my recent thougths on that subject. I am so very grateful for all of the benefits associated with the weight loss, but that doesn't mean that I have to be happy about the scars I carry from the obesity I subjected myself to.

Do enjoy being smaller and healthier. You have earned it.

Thanks for the support,

Barb

My stars girl, you are beautiful! I too have the "batwings" and I go sleeveless all the time. Oh Well!! My son-in-law, whom I love dearly just says, Lord Mom the grandbabys could swing on those. It makes me laugh every time. If this is all the trauma I have from wls surgery so be it. I am 46 years old and love life. P.S. I can also clap  with my "wings" LOL Rhonda

Barbara, we are our own worst critics when it comes to our bodies. I read your post and looked at your photos and can so relate to what you are feeling. A liftime of SMO has left me with "batwings" among other anomolies. I wish I had an answer on when we will feel good about our new bodies. I try to tell myself to be thankful for regaining my health and energy back, but when I look at my naked body it is a reminder of my previous life. I guess in time we will adjust and be thankful that our body held up for us until the time when we were able to lose our excess weight.

Adjusting  and appreciating  our new bodies may just take a while more.

Remember, you are a beautiful woman.

I know exactly how you feel! It's a constant reminder of our former selves, especially in the summer when we show a little more skin. I really notice myself when I'm exercising, getting in crunched up positions and having it mushroom all over the place. Have you been in a pool or a bathtub? It floats. All that loose skin rises to the top and it's like a scary movie. It is possible that your batwings will improve some with time. I don't think mine are quite as bad as they were a year ago. I've done lots of weightlifting and with my flat chest I'm beginning to look a lot like a man. But I don't shake quite as much as I did before. I considered PS but have decided against it, partly because of the $$$ and I'm scared too, and really at 47 I'm not supposed to be that firm anyway. And when would it end? You can't get your arms done and then have hanging boobs right next to them, and if you get them fixed, then there's your belly. And then you've got legs and a butt that need fixing. And honestly, my face could use some help too. Anyway, I think you look great.

Hi Wanda,

Thanks the commiseration. Yep, I've been in the tub and watched it all float to the top ... Yuck!!! I'm actually pretty muscular under than flab, I hope that I'll have some 're-draping,' but I'm not holding my breath. Like you, I can't afford plastics and they do scare me some. I guess if money weren't an issue, I'd probably have my arms, chest, stomach, rear, legs and face done, but money is a big issue so I it's not likely that I'll ever do any of it. That means I need to find a way to come to terms with it.

Thanks again for the compliments and congratulations on the terrific job you have done.

For an awesome picture of batwings, click on my profile and look at the picture where I'm flexing.  It's comedy gold!  I used to hate my batwings, but now I'm proud of them.  They remind me every day of what is gone and never coming back.  Embrace the batwing!
