What makes You a WLS Grad?
Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering what makes you a WLS Grad? I am going to be 1 year post-op in 1 Month. I have lost a total of 137LBS. I also am 4LBS away from my goal. I am usually on the NJ Board. But i have to say no one really posts to much over there anymore, but newbies, and most of questions now are for the Grads, so do I count as a grad now?
One year post op. That's it. i started lurking in this area when I was 11 months cuz I'd had my 1 year post op with the surgeon and he basically released me and decreed me a "graduate" or something like that. he said "you're there." and I believed him. I asked him how do I keep from losing more weight and he said "eat more." lovely.
We're mostly grads here. Some are maintaining, some are still losing, some are trying to lose their 'bounce back" and some, like me are trying to put on a few pounds to keep from looking sick. like a stick figure. sigh..I'm having a bad day, don't mind me.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hi
Thanks for responding!!! So I am guessing that I can call myself a grad. My surgeon said I will continue to lose up until am about 18 months out, not as fast as I did in the beginning but that I will still lose. I am dieing to know where I will be when I am at 18 months out. I really don't want to lose anymore weight myself, but I still can't eat that much, because I had that permanent band put around my stomach, not the lap band. It is a band that is put around your new stomach(pouch) and it prevents your stomach from ever stretching too big again. I never wanted to be skinny, just healthy. Anyway, well as far as your bad day sorry to hear that, but if your health is good be greatfull of that.
yeah, bad days will come and go but at least I'm healthy...I went through alot to be healthy so this one small day isn't that big a deal..
So they cant' adjust your band? That's a new one. I've never heard of that.
