Has anyone after a rny got an hernia/

I need to know if  some of u after 4 years of a rny got an hernia? and which one is the test that tells u how big is yiur stoma and how much can ur pouch hold? please let me know thanks claudia

Hi Claudia, I am not sure about the test part.  Are you talking about the cottage cheese test?  As far as a hernia I had open RNY 2 years ago and had a hernia repaired this last January. Jeanne

Hi Claudia, No symptoms.  I would have never even known if the GBS hadn't told me.  The hernia was my ticket to a panni.  The GBS did the hernia repair and then the PS did the rest.  The PS found another hernia from my first panni so she repaired that also.  I can't tell you about what was done as I had complications from the wound and am foggy about what the GBS said.  I will ask him again when I go back for my 2 year check up.  I had moderate pain for a day or so after the fix but it probably was a combination of all that I went through. I understand that people live with incisional hernias with no problems.  Does your surgeon want to  fix it?   The next time you see him ask him to show you.  When I went for my first consultation with the plastic surgeon she saw it as soon as she walked in the door.  I tend to ignore how certain parts of my body loo****il I can get it fixed. Claudia  There are diff kinds of Hernia's - what kind do you have ??  hiatal? incission? an upper G.I. will check the pouch and stoma - simple swallow test   takes about 5 min to complete - also see's how fast your pouch empties out. You can also do cottage cheese test to see how much your pouch can hold .
