Don't need anything, Just wanted to say HI
Hi there Grads!
I remember seeing this page over a year ago, and thinking I'd never be one of those people who'd be over a year out, but I am.
I'm putting information about my wife and I in hopes it may inspire somebody else.
My wife and I both had RNY procedures done in March of 2007.
Since our highest weights, I've lost 165 lbs, and my wife just joined the century club. That's a combined weight loss of over 265 lbs. Needless to say, we've been thinking about trading down our king size bed for something smaller. We've both really slowed down in our weight loss, and we're pretty much OK with that.
Our lives are different now, but we've learned that our weight was only one of our problems. Having had so much success with our weight loss, we're working together better to tackle the other problems life has to dish out. We feel we've both added at least a decade to our lifespan, and enjoy more of the time we spend with our 4 children (all under the age of 10).
It is my hope that this short story/post is found to be inspirational, and I plan to post it to the RNY page as well! The success stories of others really helped me along, especially in those first few post-surgery months.
Take care everyone!

Welcome Dave! Wow you and your wife have lost a whole Linebacker! 265...You lost more than a whole me before WLS...That's very cool.
I can sure identify with eating and weight only being one issue on your plate. It's taken getting the weight issue and eating issues out of the way before I could see any of the other things. Seemed like a giant fat woman in the room that I refused to speak to and there were smaller, more sinister issues hiding behind that big fat woman!
4 Children under the age of 10...You saved them a lot of heart ache and can be a good example to them for sure! They'll learn the right way to eat before eating the wrong things becomes an issue with them..Think of the advantage that would have made on your life!
See ya around the boards!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

It has been amazing to me how my kids have automatically been making healthier food choices on their own. This gives me hope that we are moving down the right path to break the obesity chain. In fact, recently my daughter was with her friend and they bought her a "happy meal" from McDonalds. When she got home, she got ill from the food and lost her lunch... so to speak. We were happy her body knew that meal wouldn't really make her happy! What a change from a year ago!!
Hi Dave and Jodell,
Glad to see you over here. I've not seen much of you lately on OH. In a few days my wife and I will join your ranks...the husband and wife team approach to WLS. Christine has her RNY on June 19th and she is looking forward to starting the journey. She went from saying, "I'd never do that" to, "I think I'm going to have my own RNY". What a blessing. You two have done very well...keep up the great work.

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?

Thanks!! Yep, we're here in the Rancho Sahuarita community. You may have seen us on the tv commercial for our surgeon's group. Somebody even told me a couple days ago that they saw my face on a billboard somewhere in town. If you see it, please let me know where it is, because I'd like to take a picture of it for posterity's sake! I guess that would make me a local celeb!
Yeah, it floors me about kids meals. At restaurants all the kids meals are fried, breaded, cheese covered...I have a card from my surgeon that tells restaurants that I can choose from the kids section but why would I want to? Bleh. Great if you can break the obesity chain. My sister and brother are both alot bigger than me now. I used to be the oldest AND the fattest..Not so much anymore.
