Memory
Has anyone had issues with memory loss or just not remembering little things. I am not talking about here or there. I am talking about actually remembering things many times in a day? One of my strong points was that I could remember numbers, what people said, learing something and only having to be shown once or twice. I do not have that at all now. Am I just getting older? Is it a chemical issue? Was it wls related? I am talking about many people telling me " I just told you that" Or being shown how to do something and not remembering and having a person tell you " I told you that yesterday?
Smile, it increases your face value.
She's a lady who has had WLS some time ago (years and years) and she knows all the vitamins and the best ones to get too. I'm not nearly as up on that as she is. Search for her screen name as VitaLady and I believe you'll find it.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I have been lurking on this forum for five years. Sadly, I have never taken the time to fill out a profile, etc. I will try to get that done very soon. However, I felt compelled to chime in this question. I have lost a good deal of my memory, and it started approximately 18 months after surgery. I even asked a doctor if I was experiencing early onset alzheimers, at about three years out. The doctor said it could be attributed to the amount of anethesia I had been administered, as I had several plastic surgeries performed. I struggled just then to recall the word "adminstered"; although, I was searching for another word or term. My last plastic surgery was four years ago, and I still have the same symptoms you describe. I will be told something by a friend, and I will immediately forget what they have said. I have also wondered if there are studies undergoing on this issue. There are times I cannot recall the name for a simple item. One day, I could not remember the word thermos. This is when I became worried. I will look into the B12 and B1 avenue of approach. Just for those who are curious. I am seven years out, roux and y, lap. Start 370, lost approximately
185 lbs. I hover about ( 10 pounds over my lowest weight sometimes a little more). I left weights, fairly seriously and I perform cardio 5-6 days a week, normally 45 mins. I just turned 50.
My issue is that I can't remember the words. They are always on the tip of my tongue. I have just started a B complex and E. I don't know if this will hel*****t. My B-12 was high (over the max - of course I can't remember the number lol..I think) Nothing was said about B-1. I'm looking for a good Omega-3 to take.
I had the same problem and someone told me about Coromega 3. I got the orange flavored one. It comes in little packets like condiments at fast food restaurants. I just sqwirt it in my mouth and swallow. It doesn't taste bad at all and it seems to help although I just started it about a week ago.
Good luck.
Let me know how it works, if you remember. lol
Kathy, what was your B-12 level, the ranges need to be raised in my opinion. What some lab ranges show as "in range" just doesn't work for many of us. Also have you B-1 and B-6 vitamins checked.
I think Vitalady (Michelle) may still be on her road trip so not as active on the grad board right now; she has helped me MANY times with vitamins and research. You can email her at [email protected] or go to her web site: www.vitalady.com.
And, as a side note I do have some memory loss (maybe) or is it just us getting older and having so much in life to deal with that we don't have enough time to rest so our brain is in overdrive?
