Just some thoughts on muscles, calories, exercise, etc..
I am realizing more and more why weight training is so vital postop. It burns many more calories at rest. If I keep my cals to 1200 I lose like a mad dog. I was told this would be caloric intake for life by my doc and they still hold to that. I am a runner and I lift weights. Check out my new avie! I am so proud. Terri R inspired me from the RNY board, thanks Terri!
SO just remember everyone's caloric needs are different. If I ate 800 or even 1000 a day I would pass out. Even 1200 I am ravished. My body needs more than that. I realize this now. I got my metabolic rate tested before weight lifting and my BMR was 1681, I would love to know what it is now.. need to get it retested. Anyways.. I am rambling! Thanks for letting share my new avie with u!

Girl-you just always find a new way to inspire me!!! You make me feel like there IS hope for my body to be more than just not "overweight" but to be FIT! I was just talking to someone about this!
I started out on this journey just wanting to be average. But now-I want to be FIT. I want to have some muscle and tone and some GOOD health!!
Thank you ALWAYS for all you do!!
Big hugs-you are beautiful!!
Therese
I must be a humming bird...I eat from 1700 to 2300 calories a day. I work at a desk job and clean a big house with three bathrooms...generally from 4 am to about 9 pm I'm walking around or doing something.but with a desk job, you have to figure there's alot of not moving..I'm maintaining my weight at 122-123. I did the exact same things when I was 214 but my calorie intake was more like 3500 a day...I must be burning it like crazy but I dont' know how.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

You are so buff Melissa. I'm trying harder and harder to get pumped. But my weight is going up along with my muscles. I'm trying not to let it bother me, but it sorta is. I just like being strong and able to do what I need to do around the house, like cutting grass and scrubbing algae out of the pool, that kind of fun stuff.
I don't know about "buff" but I am working on it! Terri says my muscles show more b/c I don' t have that much body fat anymore.. lol Yeah.. its in my abdomen still! Or so it seems with all that skin there. It's the first place I lose and gain still and bloat! Anyway.. my weight has creeped up because of lack of eating right some of the time but when I do eat right and keep the cals at 1200, I lose lbs in a week. It reminds me of what Terri use to say when she couldn't eat enough when she was sick etc. I think I do have a good resting metabolism now. However, going for a lower goal of 130-135 may not be feasibly ever for my body with the increased muscle tone. I do get hungrier with all the working out and I believe its my body saying "feed me damnit" which I do hate. But at the same time I love working out.. so not sure where its best to draw the line. I think my original goal of 140 is probably the best place for me to land with the increased muscle as much as I don't want that.. it is what it is. 140.. i shouldn't be complaining. I was 328 just a couple years ago.. I should smack myself for even talking like that! I hear you though.. I love to be strong also.

Thank you for posting Melissa. I just "restarted" my workout plan and cutting my cals...it ain't workin!! I think I've only been taking in about 900-1000 cals a day, but working out (cardio and weights) and probably burning 400-600 cals each workout. The weight ain't moving like it used to! It's frustrating too. I think I probably need to bump up my cals also to about 1200-1400 a day if I'm gonna be burning that much. It was so much easier losing weight just 6 months ago. So I guess I'll be on another new workout plan.
