Foamies and mucus

Im 16 months out and lately have had trouble with foamies and mucus. Its happened twice. Both times when I ate beef that my parents prepared. I dont think I ate too fast. Im wondering if its a problem with beef or that the cuts of meat arent as lean as I prepare for myself. The first time was a meatball second time was pot roast. Im trying to figure out why its happening. My parents try to help out by making Tuesday dinner so I can get my kiddo to Girl Scouts. I ended up throwing up for 2 hours last night. Trying to time episodes with my errands. It was horrible!!!!! Throwing up in the grass at Girl Scouts because you cant get to a rest room fast enough is soooo embarassing. Please help. I tried some Papaya Enzyme I threw up the first dose but was able to finally get the second dose down.

Caution: I'll give you my suggestions but they may seem graphic to some. Those kinds of meats give me the most trouble too. When chewing, keep chewing until the food becomes paste-like and you can push the paste past your teeth and swallow. Keep chewing until you get more paste and swallow. Eventually you will get some gristle or very tough meat and I usually just spit that out. I love steak and never have any problem when I live by that process. It is only when I eat too fast now that I get into trouble with foamies. I'd also suggest that you eat your vegetables (or a few tablespoons of mashed potatoes) along with the meat to allow more of it to pass into the intestine instead of plugging up the hole. I just read my reference book and the first thing it said about the Fobi pouch was that you are also prone to more obstructions and vomiting. There, I hope that wasn't too graphic. John

I have a bit more trouble with beef too.  I have to chew the living daylights outta steak or it hits my belly like a rock. Lately, I've  ONLY been eating organic farm raised beef (Dakota Beef), that I get fresh at Costco and at the military commissary.  It doesn't bother me at all!!!!! It melts in your mouth and is so tender and tasty. No steriods, antibiotics and all its food and bedding is totally organic...The land these cows feed on is inspected for 3 years before they even allow the cows to graze on it!  I have to wonder if beef just has more "junk" in it that bothers us more,  than say pork which is said to be even harder to digest than beef.  I have no trouble with pork...But beef seems to be near impossible for me to handle until I tried this organic beef.   It was the same price per pound as the regular hambuger that costco was selling so I tried it and I will never eat regular beef again. We don't eat a lot of beef anyway...so to spend a little more once in a while wouldn't bother me at all for something I know is SOOOO much easier on my system and good for my family. The price went up at Costco recently...So I dunno if people are catching onto the taste and flavor or what.  But I have never tasted beef that needed so little spices or anything to taste amazing and be as tender.   http://www.dakotabeefcompany.com/WhyOrganic/animalnutrition. php

I don't have trouble with beef usually but 150 years of cattle raising in my family..I think it's a requirement to not get booted genetically. LOL.  Meatballs are a mixed bag. If there is beef in them, usually theres not a lot of beef. I was trying to find some with high protein and I couldn't. 6 meatballs, 10 grams? WTH? So I made my own and couldnt' find a recipe that had low carbs in it or one without bread. I made them but subbed canned spinach for the bread/rice..And the taste was great and the protein was higher but the work was...off the charts. If your parents are making meatballs from a recipe or from frozen it would make a difference.  Also, roast beef tends to be the tougher meat tossed in a crock pot to tenderize it up. lots of fat and grissle. That might be the reason for the problems. fat content.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Little, Have you tried the meatballs at Sam's Club made out of Chicken. They are high in protein and taste pretty good. They are in the meat and cheese section. These are one of my staple protein foods. John

Question .. how often do you eat beef.. at 3 yrs.. out I can't eat it except ground and deli cut. I don't think I tried it till about 6-8 months after my surgery and my body had changed.. I would not and will not break it down anymore.. I get sick everytime I try steak.. and steak was my favorite thing prior to surgery .. now I can't touch it and believe me I try every once and a while and I am always sorry.. It that isn't it.. you must have ate to fast or not chewed it well enough..  Good luck.. take it easy on beef..
I had ground beef successfully a couple days ago. I went to the Fobi pouch messge board on yahoo groups, seems Im not alone. Lots of us Fobi people have problems with meats and this happens. Thanks for all your suggestions! I really really appreciate it. You guys are great.
