Fighting a Regain!
Hi all,
I am checking in to get back on track, I had my DOT physical and I have gained 55 lbs from my lowest post op weight of 158. I know my pouch still works, and I have no one to blame but myself, I have really made some bad food choices and quit exercising all together. I really became complacent about the 15-20 lbs. I was playing around with, and now I have added some more to it. I have vowed to get back on track to get this weight off. I would like to add a ticker to my page, but I have never know how to do that, to show the regain and the lost along the way as I get back on track.
Any suggestions and advice is welcomed.
Thanks,
Tye
I think someone can help you with a ticker...But I wanted to welcome you to the WLS Grads board. We're here to encourage and support all grads. Maintaining is difficult and no one knows that until they try and do it.
You can do the 5 day pouch test, or reset. That seems to help people get back in control of their tool and work it right...Then we post each day on the accountability thread (Carla W started it and several of us continue) by posting what we ate and the values for it from sparkpeople or fitday...Any of those sites help with that and it's free usually. I know fitday is..I use that one.
And then we weigh in on Friday mornings. Each of us has different issues but we all try and support eachother and encourage...
Good luck to you! 55 lbs is a bit but it's very very do-able and no where near where you were pre-surgery, I'm sure. So go for it..We'll cheer you on!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Tickerhelp:
Go to a ticker making site (like tickerfactory.com) and make your ticker.
Then copy (right click, copy) the *picture* of your ticker.. not the code.
Then paste it (right click, paste) into your signature box.
Signatures can be modified by going to the "User Settings" link up to the left. On this particular board, it is the very last link in the box to the left.
Hope that helps.
As for getting back on track, I used the 5day pouch test. It did help me lose some weight, yes, but it detoxed me from carbs and reminded me of all the rules. I suggest it to everyone trying to get back on track. The plan can be found at http://5daypouchtest.com

I am not doing so good in this part of my journey...9 yrs later. :-(
Tammy,
I have not even accomplished setting up the ticker on my page...LOL
I went to user settings and added the image to my signature, it is not working..
I have started working out 2 x's a day and I have started getting the water in that is needed and I have started sticking to the supplements and the protein...
I started the 5 day pouch test today..
I just need to get the cravings under control, it is funny that some days I eat the right foods, but the days that eat wrong, out weight the good days..
I have actually been inspired by most of your posts, that is what got me back on track 2 weeks ago.

That's good to hear, that you can lose that much in just 11 weeks. My 2-year rebound is occurring as I'm sitting here. I haven't exactly been a saint but I've gained something like 7 or 8 pounds. I keep telling myself some of it is muscle because of the workouts I've been doing and my clothes fit the same ... but you're working like a fiend and you're losing pounds too. I have a friend here at work that owns a gym, and she said yesterday "You'd rather weigh in the 130's and be a rock instead of the 120's and be a doughnut." I guess that's true, but I wish the scale would start going back down. Anyway, didn't mean to ramble, just wanted to tell you good job.
i have been busting my a$$ at the gym.....yes it is better to be 130 and a rock as opposed to 120 and a doughnut.......
thank you.........it is hard to get started but sometimes you need a smack in the face to realize you slipped up.....mine was weighing in at 170 and size 14 was too tight.
now I am between 150-153 and a size 10 is almost too big.....
just tell yourself you have to do it........and do it

That 5DPT got me back on track too...Not only did I gain 10 holiday pounds but I was really off track with my eating and drinking with meals and I was heading down a slippery slope there for a while. Plus I wasn't taking my vits and supps...In the last few months I totally changed my bad habits all around and lost my 10 (SLOWLY)...got back on track...got my health steadily getting better and doc visits all caught up.
I didn't lose anything much with the 5DPT...but WOW WOW on the carb detox....I couldn't have lost all those 10 lbs with that carb monster.(It was really bad for me)...and drinking with my meals was a really hard habit to break for me...I still struggle even after being back on track for several months now. I still could work on lowering my carbs (not easy for me...I love my fruit and some bread)...but I have added more protein and more water and that has really helped me tremendously.
It took me a while to realize that it is a lot harder to lose weight after the initial weight loss...but by logging my food and being totally honest with myself and what i eat, made a HUGE difference in losing weight and maintaining it. I have not tried to lose anyweight as I was working on getting some health issues back in order...and I only just began exercise again. My clothes are all loose on me, but my scale doesn't reflect it...so I'm thinking I'm going to see the loss on the scale soon or I'm gaining muscle back and losing fat...Not sure what's really happening, but everyone in my family is telling me I look thinner..I see it myself...It's all very confusing when the scale doesn't agree! LOL
All I am saying is that it's frustrating and slow...but with support and determination and logging your food (getting the carb monster gone)...It all helps...and we know it's hard and it's scary...so we're here for you...I keep a hand written food journal...and I have an occasional strike and refuse to log my food ...but I feel a little more in control and the curiouslity kills me sometimes...I usually do pretty good without the journal ,but it also give me license to be naughty too....so I try to stay on top of it lately and log my food! :) I use http://www.thedailyplate.com/ ....It's just easy to look up caloires and nutritional facts here so I get an idea of what I eat. Plus I always measure out my servings so I CAN'T cheat...or convince myself that I didn't eat as much as I really did! Yeah...I can't be trusted with a full bag of anything....But I know this about me...so I get compulsive sometimes. It helped me, so I can't make fun of all my other compulsive buddies! LOL I'm one! LOL I'm a rebel too...My own worst enemy...
You can do this...I wish you much luck and success!
