Mirena - Questions; need help

I posted this also on the RNY board.  I had Mirena inserted two weeks ago.  Since then, I have had a slight discharge from time to time, and most recently, I feel sick when eating.  I feel like I am about to throw up, and explode.  My stomach cramps.  I feel like I am having menstrual cramps... the kind that make me want to lay down in bed on my side very still, just as when I have my worst cramps but these are nagging and last.  They do not go away, just get a little lighter sometimes.   If you have had the Mirena, do you remember if this is normal after getting it first inserted?

Hi, I did have one inserted and had complications but after about 6 months and some ultra sounds found that it had sliped and had to have it replaced...since then, no problems...a Godsend! Good luck and definatly go back to dr and get checked!

I have an appt today.  Someone on the RNY board said that it could be a UTI.  I have had some problems going to the bathroom such as feeling like I have to go, having a hard time peeing, then sometimes it suddenly gives me an urge and I gotta get there fast!  And, frequent urination too...  but definitely some pms and menstrual types of symptoms too which I understand is normal.  Hopefully can get rid of the UTI or kidney infection if thats what it is too.

No problems at insertion, but it has KILLED my sex drive. I am working with my insurance company to change to a different IUD.

Combined with the info in your second post, I'd say you have a UTI.  My Mirena caused spotting for the first 6 months, and I had a few days of cramping, but nothing like what you're describing.  And it never affected my appetite - not much does, unfortunately... Please see a doctor!!  Give us an update when you get back.  Take care!
