2 days on liquids only

Hi Everyone!  I posted a while back about going in for a colonoscopy and lots of people replied telling me it would all be OK etc.  Well, the test is this Tuesday and my question is about being on liquids only for 2 days!  I can barely make it through the day if I miss one meal--how am I ever going to survive this?  My hubby is quite worrried as well--when I don't eat, I get shaky and almost pass out.  Any suggestions or ideas?

You need to contact your doctor and let him know that - if you still have contact with your surgeon call him as well as I have found that they know of ways to clear our system that's different than the normal procedures. As I'm at the age when that activity may be part of the annual physical it will be interesting to hear what you find out. BTW - cute puppy!

I don/'t have any suggestions but I can understand your fears. I have a physical next Friday and I'm worried about not being able to eat until nearly noon. I've normally eaten four times by then, and I'm wondering just how low my sugar will get. I can't imagine going 2 days!

It would be like being on that 5dpt I would think...Protein shakes and lots of them, maybe?  I have the same thing about not eating. I actually told my doctor that I refuse to do a Fasting Glucose Tolerance Test..The fasting is bad enough but then the sugar/syrup stuff after? They'd be hauling me to the hospital for sure!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I can't even have shakes--it's clear liquids only!  It's only 10:30 am Sunday morning (here in Ontario Canada) and already I am feeling hungry--and I have to do this until 8 am Tuesday morning!  Yuck!

Mary

When I had my colonoscopy I was allowed to have CLEAR liquids so what I did was I drank clear crystal light drinks (no red or blue dye) and just put some protein powder in them....BEFORE you do anything check with your doctor first because my instructions may be different than yours!  Good Luck and remember "bottoms up!"  LOL

Mary Lou, I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago.  I had to be on clear liquids for one day and NPO the next morning until the test.  I was not supposed to have protein shakes but I made one early in the morning with water and ice and drank it.  Then I had clear liquids the rest of the day.  I did not tell the doctor that I had done this.  At Noon the day before the test, I had to take 4 dulcolax tablets and then at 6pm I had to drink half the gallon of nulytley.  I didn't finish half, but I didn't tell the doctor as I was definitely cleaned out. Good luck with your test.

You may want to try isopure already made drinks they have alot of protein and are considered clear. I too get shaky if I dont eat, I will be curious if there is another methods of cleaning out the system.
