How do you put the brakes on?!

As I approach my one year anniversary in a couple of weeks, I keep trying to stop the weight loss and it keeps happening. How do I put on the brakes? I'm eating more. I've added carbs and some fats. I don't want to add too much, but this is nuts. I'm eating about 1800 calories a day.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Barb

I don't have any advice for this - my weight just balanced at a reasonable level, but I was eating about 1800 calories a day at the time. Maybe you should call your Dr. or better yet the nutritionist your Dr's office uses. Good luck!

Starting weight: 262   Current weight: 152.2 Goal weight: under 155 - I keep going over - UGH!!!
weeks maintaining goal: 1

I consume about 1800 calories a day and I log what I eat. I have a call into the Nutrionist. I'll see what he has to say.

Thanks,

Barb

Hopefully by now, you and your food journal are very close and intimate...  where one is found, there is the other...  or that was my case.  I obtained goal in 8 months, 1 week.  I had to increase my daily calories.  You can do this by adding a little bit of salad dressing to your salads, adding some low carb milk (such as Hood) into your diet, or at this point, some people add a little LITTLE bit of milk.  Just increase your calories wherever you can but very slowly.  Don't do it too fast or add too many things... for instance, don't add whole wheat bread AND milk all in the same week.  Once I hit goal, the nutritionist said add wheat bread and milk.  I did both.  Gained 5 lbs in 3 weeks! What? So I had to find what worked for me.  I still don't eat much bread, never drink regular milk but use Hood Calorie Countdown.  I also enjoy salad dressing on my salad.  Just log all your intake and watch the calories.  If you find that you are gaining a few oz each day, just keep watching what you are eating and try to find the culprit.  Is it time for your period? Is it that you have added too much of a good thing?  Do you need to drop your calories?  Stuff like that....  it takes some trial and error, but again, journal your food, be cognizant of what may cause any weight gain and add foods slowly.

Hi, Melinda... My post is lower on the thread... I've added what you mentioned, but it hasn't worked for me.  My friend updated that she would gain 5 LB easily eating just a few of the foods that I've added.  Any suggestions?

Hi Melinda,

Thanks for the advice. I do log what I eat and I consume about 1800 calories a day ... give or take a bit. I already consume at least 8 ounces of nonfat milk ... the real stuff ... every day. Sometimes more. I also have bread daily. Not a lot, but I do have some 'simple carbs.' I always lead with 2 ounces of dense protien, follow that with complex carbs and have some simple carbs if/when I have the room and desire. With this, I'm still losing. I have a call into my Nut. I'll see what he has to say.

Thanks again for your advice,

Barb

Hi Barb. I have found that the body know when to stop on its own. Alot of people drop down a little low and then bounce back a few pounds and settle in at that weight. When I hit 150lbs people thought I was getting too thin, but I have found that weight is very hard to maintain at 5'9" tall. My body perfers to be 155-159lbs. I wouldn't worry just yet about dropping too low b/c things will probably even out on their own. Good LUck!

Hi, Tracy... I agree with the "evening-out" info, as for the best amount for a body to weigh. I think that something else is going on for me.  If you have any ideas on gaining, please let me know.  Thanx. Ro

Do Over Are you having problems skidding the weight loss? Or problems with gaining weight? I'm sorry, I am confused.

Hi, Melinda... Good Question!  Probably a little of both!  I had 2 rapid weight loss periods. A quick 8.5 LB, which tappered-off after 10 BLs were lost in February. A rapid weight loss of 5 LB... then another 1.5 LB over about 7 days in April. I never gained back the 10 LB February loss; didn't even try, as I thought that it was just "normal". Once the 6.5 LB started, I knew that I couldn't afford to drop anymore weight.  I look sick.  My face has signs of malnutrition.  At an average of 1750 calories for 1 month, I've gained 2.5 LB.  I am working on regaining additional weight. The responses that I found here have been helpful and comforting.  I realize that Barb's situation is different from mine now.  I'm glad that I have been able to regain some weight and I will continue to work with my Nut.,  making changes based on the Labs / Tests. Thanx... I think that the input I read from the Grads have put my mind at ease! Ro
