How Do You Tolerate Fruit?

It seems like since I started eating fruit again (a banana, strawberries and a clemintine), I have the worst gas! My stomach gets bloated and rumbly. I had my surgery 03/07. Does anyone else find a fruit intolerance?

You are still early out from surgery and it may be that the natural sugars are too much for you right now. Perhaps cutting down on them for now and introducing them later will work.

I don't do so good with fruit, I think because of the sugar. A lot of people blame fruit for some regain too, so I'm trying not to indulge too much in it.
Fruit tends to make me gassy too. I dont eat it that often. Strawberries right now are my weakness. In my mind its better than sugar free cookies or candies or something. At least strawberries are one of the less sugary fruits.

Nope, I don't seem to have that problem with fruits~I get that more if I eat any bad carbs.

I had mine 06/07 and I don't have any trouble with any fruit that I've tried. Maybe as some of the others have said, you are having a reaction to the natural sugars in the fruit. Do you tolerate other carbs okay?

I couldn't eat much raw fruit for about a year...maybe longer... Especially grapes, apples, oranges or any fruit juice (which I still cannot drink more than an ounce or 2 tops) But no...fruit does not make me gassy or bloated at all. If you eat too much of it though, you raise the amount of sugar and calories and it will react the same as a high glycemic food because of the amount of fructose. You might just try to eat a smaller serving and let your body get used to it slowly. Carbs don't make you gain weight...Calories do.  Carbs have gotten such a bad name since the South Beach Diet started...Not all carbs are bad.  WLS does make many of us very sensitive to any kind of sugar...so you might not be able to tolerate fruit ever...But I'd keep trying...fruits have so many vits and nutrients...and we need all the help we can get! Here's one of the many gylcemic charts...I picked this one because it explains what high glycemic foods are...in case you didn't know...Plus the list is large!  http://www.glycemic-index-diet.com/
