Citracal calcium creamy bites

These have been a lifesaver for me to get my calcium in and it sounds like they are not making them anymore. Has anyone found something that compares and is still calcium citrate not carbonate? Thanks for any help.

The only thing I've found that is nearly as easy is the Upcal-D, which is available online.  Check w/Google for a distributor who is less expensive than the mfgr

Thanks Lynn, I am so dissapointed that these are not available anymore. They were my little treats for the day. I will give the Upcal-D a try, thanks again for your help.

I'm with you about "the little treats"! But I use the Upcal-D in a cup of s/f decaf hot cocoa or one of the International House coffee drinks in the evening for another treat

I also use the UpCalD and love it! Those chews were nice b/c it was like having a snack~I liked the caramel ones. They stopped carrying them here in NW PA awhile back.

I tried them but gave them to another bypass patient friend who loved them more than I did.  I tried lemon and caramel.  They were good, but she loved those little things! I use Bariatric Advantage Wild Cherry. I love them!  They taste like candy sweet tarts or something

I'm with Melinda..I LOVE the Bariatrics Advantage (Wild Cherry)  I just ran out and switched to the UpCal D, but I had to also buy Magnesium because it doesn't have that and I personally need it...(Without magnesium it also binds me...but I take it for a deficiency more than anything)  I open the packet of Up Cal D...Pour in 400 mg mag and some extra dry D3 (2 x a day) and pour in my mouth with a little water and swi**** around...It's okay...I'll go back to the BA wild cherry!  Those are yummy. (These do have magnesium in them, but not enough for me)   Theya re not creamy and chewy like the citracal chews...I miss them too.

I have been taking Viactiv calcium caramel chews.  I might need a calcium lecture though, what is the difference between citrate and cabonate?  I read and Viactiv is carbonate.  So, could you give me a little information on this.  You know, I am just not as well informed about vitamins as I should be...I would love to hear more.  I guess the Viactiv vitamin chews are not the best either?

Thanks!

From all the reseach I have done we need to take calium citrate because our bodies after surgery can not absorb the calcium carbonate. I would suggest checking with your doctor and seeing what he or she wants you to be taking. Viactiv chews are really good but if you are not absorbing the calcium it is really doing you no good. Good luck to you.
