Running/Jogging...YOU!
Hey all~
I just wanted to stop in and encourage you Grads. In two weeks I will be running in my first official 5K! I am training and DO run 3.2 miles at least once a week. This is HUGE for me! I can't even tell you how surreal it all is. Now, you are asking, why am I a telling you?! Well, if you have toyed around with, thought about, said "I should try.." jogging, I encourage you to DO IT NOW! ANYONE, I mean ANYONE can do this - Even this former 350+ pound woman!!!
You start small and then you just keep at it. I found the very best way is to find someone who is at the same level you are. For me, I was doing little to NO exercising - I found that in my little sister!! So, we were BOTH going to try it!
Then, you try to jog ONE block and you laugh hysterically at yourselves. Because, WHY NOT LAUGH! Then you continue to walk as far and fast as you can. Then you get out in a couple of days and you try to jog two blocks. And you giggle, say "THIS is crazy!" and you walk as far and fast as you can again - etc. You do THIS every day adding a block or two per day. Did you know that four blocks is roughly one quarter of a mile?!? YOU CAN DO THAT!!!
Now, some of you may wonder about SKIN! Yes, I have this issue. For the ladies, I have found the best sucker-inner to be ASSETS by Sarah Blakely I use the Fabulous Footless. They are $10 at your loca Target. I am sure the SPANXX are just as good, but I don't wanna pay the money. I have skin in my tummy and BIG time in the thighs. I have found these to be the very best. I also go with two sports bras to hold in the girls! Guys...sorry, no idea!
So, if you have been thinking about this, STOP THINKING and DO IT! It has taken me almost a year (with a four-month break) but I have worked up from 1 block to 3 MILES! IF I CAN - TRUST ME, YOU CAN TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lemme know how it goes~
Blessings~

Becky, You will never know how much i needed to read your post this morning. I had an open RNY in 2001 and i did lose over 100 pds. i went from a 56 stomach to a 36. My wife and i have been praying that i will get my mind and my body back on track so i will start losing again. i am slowly gaining my weight back. It's not that i do not know what i am doing wrong, its that i can not get my mind set on it. think u for that post that i hope motivates me enough to get back on track. Please when your praying remember Bruce and Louise, Thank you, A wls friend Bruc
I needed and exercise goal and this is it. I had some excess skin removed from my tummy about 5 months I've tried jogging a little and the inscision line still hurts. Do you run in the Assets? Does it make you incredibly HOT? No I'm sure you look great I mean... warm!
Two sports bra's now there is a good idea!
I'm going to try again... I am walking one this weekend - you know that is incredible in itself because like you I started over 350 - for a woman who is five five - that is pretty dang big - trust me!
Thanks for the inspiration.
Trudy
Hey Trudy -
I promise you if you commit to this goal, you will NOT be disappointed!
I DO run in the Assets. Naturally, it isn't as comfortable as I would like, but it IS the most comfortable of everything I have tried. And I HAVE tried everything! Compression shorts, girdles, Spanxx, Slim n Lift etc. I find Assets to be the MOST comfortable. They are a might warm, but worth it to hold in the jiggle!!
I will say, you might GAIN weight, but you might also lose inches. I find that even under the skin, my body is toning and tightening! So, clothes fit much better etc.
BEST WISHES!!
Blessings~

I am getting ready to go run my 3.1 miles now.. thank goodness for ipods and mp3 players though, I can't imagine doing it without!
Hugs and keep up the good work. Your journey reminds me of my own in so many ways, we should keep in touch. I would love to ad you as a friend. Hope you don't mind!
