Hey, Kevin,  we are in the same boat.  I've lost about 140lbs, and the last 2 months it has slowed way down, like 10 lbs a month.   I remember reading somewhere that this is normal.   Be sure to log everything you eat to assure you are getting your protein in, that you are eating enough cals or not too much cals. Check with your nut/surgeon  to see just how much cals/protein  they recommend. You might try to switch things up a bit.  Add more food, do a different form of exersize.  I starting jogging with my daily walk and that seems to be helping me.  You have done trimendously!   Good for you!    Amie

Hey, it sounds like you're doing a great job! Just keep doing all the good things you've been doing and I'm sure things will pick back up again. We all go thru those times when things slow as our body's way of making an adjustment and getting ready for another round of weightloss. Make sure you're eating enough calories if you've got a pretty strenuous workout routine going. You still have lots of time to get those last 88lbs off~wishing you continued success!!!!!!!!!

The first 6 months is considered the 'honeymoon period' - its where you lose the most weight the quickest. After this point the majority of people experience a slow down - your surgeon should be able to tell you what to expect based on their other patients experience. My surgeon said to expect 10-15lbs the first 6, then drop to approx 5lbs after that.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

That's normal, but don't get discouraged because you can still lose lots of weight. I lost 105 pounds the first 6 months, and half that much the next 6 months, and then half that much the next 6 months. (I stopped losing at about 16 months, but I had reached goal, some people lose for a while after that.) Just eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise, take your supplements and drink lots of water, and you'll get there!

Hey Kevin... It's normal...It does slow waaaay down...but it does keep on going for a while. You seem to be doing fine...You'll continue losing slower for quite a while more. I think after my first 6-8 months I was only losing about 5-8 lbs a month if I was lucky...It continued for another year, slowly diminishing until it finally ended at about 18 mos. and left me 150 lbs lighter.... You are drinking a protein supp right?  Men have more muscle and need more protein...You might think about upping protein??? Especially since you mentioned that you are going to the gym...I bet the men's board you'd find much better advice since you guys have a totally different metabolism with your muscles and the type of exercise you are doing.   But we're all the in the same WLS game and we all start to slow down after the first several months...so don't worry...You'll get there!  Good luck!
