I had my surgery in october 2005 and have lost 158 pounds.  Up until 6 months ago I was still eating fairly small amounts....but...due to the illness and death of my mother I let stress take over and I have slipped back into eating  larger amounts....even though it made me uncomfortable at first.  Now, I can see that is becoming a habit....do our new pouches shrink back smaller if we again start to eater smaller quantities....and....what is the diet that I have seen discussed on here...I think it was a high protein diet that kick started weight loss again...I have gained aobut 8 pounds and want it off ASAP....thanks for your help and any information that you can give me.

I can only speak for myself and yes my pouch does seem to shrink if I cut back for a few days....I will warn it doesn seem that once you have pushed it past a overeating stage for a few weeks it kinda stays bigger each time....so I try so very very hard not to overeat. I tend to cheat by grazing UGH Good luck  keeping 158 off isnt easy   I know Diana RNY 9/17/03 360/191.5/ forever aiming at 180

I think its more a matter of learning to 'listen' to your pouch again.... eat slowly, chew well and take breaks - listen for when your pouch is telling you its full.. you are eating past that point. If you are focusing on what you are eating you will find you are truly full/satisified off the smaller amounts but were previously ignoring this and eating past that point. If necessary weight/measure your meals for two weeks and food log everything as a reminder of how you were eating previously... a lot of times seeing everything in black and white can really help with getting back on track. There is the '5 day pouch test' its main purpose isnt to lose weight, its to 'get back on track'... some people do experience weightloss on it, others dont.

Hi!  Try giving this awhirl www.5daypouchtest.com.  After 15 months post op I noticed myself becoming "more hungery" and breaking the rules.  I did this and all good again......I plan to have this at hand for anytime I sense I need it to get back on track! YOU CAN DO IT!!  8pounds!  Nothing compared to what you've already lost!   Hugs!
