Anyone ever had this problem???
I am 3 1/2 years out from gastric bypass and every few days I have this weird problem. I get really hot, shakey and light headed like I could pass out - I am literly taking off clothes and turning on the ceiling fan - when this happens I go get some protein (a smoothie, detour bar or cottage cheese) as soon as possbile and in a few minutes it goes away. It's not like I haven't eaten well earlier, it could happen after eating some steak and veges an hour earlier. Anyone had this happen???
Sounds like hypoglycemia like the above posts mentioned. I have this same problem and I noticed it was usually occuring after an influx of carbs or sugar. I've cut out almost all "white" carbs and only left in fruits and veggies with the occasional whole-grain and I haven't had any problems since.

Not to sound like a broken record, but being a registered nurse and having experienced these symptoms myself, I would make a safe bet that your blood sugar is dropping when this happens. You are doing exactly what you need to be doing by having a protein snack. I had to add one every afternoon to prevent a mid afternoon BS drop. Good luck to you!

Dingram, I was having the same problem with hypoglycemia. I started eating small frequent meals every 3 hrs and i have stopped the episodes and lost weight to boot!

Hello,
I don't post here very often, Cajungirl gave me a reminder that this board is here. I am a little over 4 1/2 years out, and I was having issues like this. I went to my surgeon to see what was going on. He ran a lot of tests, and low blood sugar was not it for me. However, with having all those symptoms above I was also have real bad dizzy spells (feeling drunk all the time so to speak). It took about two months to pin point what it was. After doing a urinalysis, it turned out that everything I ate was completely burning. Which lead to, I'm not eating enough. Who would have thought that me eating my 5 to 6 meals a day not enough food. Doc told me, to eat all the pastas, breads, and so forth that I could to get my calories in. After doing this for about 2 months now I feel fine again. I've not gained any weight at that! Which of course is what I was scared of is gaining the weight with adding a heck of a lot more food and carbs. Anyways, this is what happened to me when I thought I had low blood sugar.
