I am 13 months out from having had lap-band surgery. I have for the past 4 labs had

1.) Low WBC 2.) High RDW 3.) High RDWSD 4.) High Mono 5.) Low Absolute Neut.

What can I do eating or supplement wise to get more desireable readings?

Diana, Check with your surgeon re. your readings & have him/her advise you accordingly. Also, is their a nutritionist in the office ? Good luck !

The labs you've listed are components of the CBC (complete blood count).  WBC is white blood cells, the other 4 are sub sets of different stages of the white blood cells.  Usually this is not dietary.  It falls under the category or diagnosis of "blood dyscrasia", meaning abnormal. Your doc who ordered and received the lab results should guide you as to what should be done next.  Depending on the severity of the low WBC, you may need to see a hematologist.  Otherwise, if the results were just below normal, it could be a transitory thing and your body may compensate and correct the problem. Good luck, and keep us posted. Cindy

I do not give medical advice.  I offer my opinion, nothing more.

Thank you both for your replies. Each time I have queried the MD, they don't seem to be bothered by it. I will check again and mention the possibility of seeing a hemotologist. Diana
