Im way below goal.... did it all the way .... but Im as week as a kitten. I dont excersise and am afraid to because the scale may go up from muscle gain and Im afraid what that will do to my head. In my mind numbers up are bad... I know that its not right... its better for me to excersise to now take this body and tone it.. but ARGH! Any thoughts

What do you look like, because we may be twins. I went from the 300's down to the 120's really fast, and I was so weak I could barely push open doors at stores. I had always done lots of cardio but no weight training. I broke down and started the first of the year, and it's amazing how much it has helped. Bad news is, I have gained 3 or 4 pounds, but I look smaller and have lost a size or so. I started off with The Firm tough tape and used food cans for weights, and I'm already using 15 pound weights instead. You already know the answer, you'd be better off with exercise, for the way you'll feel, look, and it'll help maintain your weight loss.

You're worse off than I have been but I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and got going in the RIGHT direction. YOU know you need to put on a couple pounds...YOU know this is unhealthy. I just recently discovered that it's life threatening. You didn't lose weight with WLS to threaten your life?

I have the same problem with the numbers going up but someone at a support group meeting told me "Just gain 5 pounds. Five pounds should be okay. And then maintain there and see how you feel. If you don't like it, five pounds is easy enough to lose." I have successfully increased my intake and calories (AND PROTEIN) so that I gained from 118 to 121.0. That's a major breakthrough for me.

To tone up you need to increase your calories or you'll get sick. Start with gaining one single pound. Log your food and keep track of it like we do on the accountabilty thread. I shoot for 2000 to 2300 calories a day. Not empty calories (cuz any idiot can add candy and crap and gain weight) but good stuff, good carbs..I don't make the 2000 each day but I'm just about got a handle on this maintaining thing...i've been 121-122 since June of last year..With a momentary dip down to 116 earlier this year.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I started out at 275 and at one point got down to 112. now I am 130 and want to get back to 120. go easy on excersise till you regain some strength back. up your carbs alittle and you will be fine.

Just try a little pilates type toning...Feed a little extra protein to your muscles! Muscles burn fat, Even if they weigh heavier than fat...But fat is bulky and muscle is compact and you will be smaller even if the number moves up just a little!  You will love what you see...and the number won't matter after that...I promise! just as an fyi one pound of muscle is equal to one pound of fat but muscle comes in a more sleek package then fat does. ANDI
