ARound here to gain control again they are using the 5 day pouch test (5dpt) so if you look further down the page you'll see links to where you can find the particulars. I fasted one day and just that caused my pouch to shrink down to nothing again...It can be done but you have to have will power to start over..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I sure don't know the answer to your question, but I wish you the best of luck. I hope when I'm as far along as you are, I'm half as successful as you've been! I know you're upset about the 10 pounds, but you've obviously held it together pretty well to go 5 1/2 years and do so well. You've got to be very determined to have maintained so well, and I can't imagine you not getting rid of that 10 pounds pretty quick. Most people swear it's the bad carbs that make them hungry - if you're indulging a lot in those, maybe it would help to cut back.

Five day pouch test..  you wont get full enough cos you have stretched your pouch. Doing the test will bring yourself back to square.... do it and regain the control. Ten leads to twenty etc............ you can do five days right? Drop in the bucket honey... GO FOR IT !

I dont think "going back to basics" means shakes and jello. Its more about the mind set. In the begining we log our intake to make sure we are meeting targets for calories/protein/fiber etc. In the begining we plan our days in advance and have emergency foods ready. In the begining we are mindful of all we do. If you are eating a healthy well balanced diet and feeling good, weight is irrelevant, you know? Its easier to maintain a lifestyle than a number on the scale, or so I think :) Good Luck and great job!!! HUGS PK

I’m coming up on five years post-op…. And what “has worked for me?……….”

The “Start Over” Plans have a sense of artificiality That doesn’t ‘seem right.’ But, They work. A number of folks in my  support group are older post-ops. They have benefitted from starting at the beginning and adding Food items one at a time. As a system of “Re-Focusing.” For me, the “solution” has been keeping ‘Zero -Carb’ foods on hand At all times.  Fridge full of Radishes, Carrots, Peppers, Celery, etc... And other Low-Glyemic Foods. Best Wishes- Dx

You guys are all the greatest.. yes it is the carb monster that has reared it's ugly head and the 5 day pouch thing I think may help. it is warm weather now so maybe i can replace things like cookies and such with cuccumbers and tomatos. One more question please. I started drinking coffee almost 2 years ago to help with hunger and now that I think about it I havnt lost a pound and have started the gaining. do you think the coffee is making me hungry . All i had drank was tea before . I am swelling alot now too. hugs to all Terri

There ya go!  Veggies are my favorite "chips" (crunchie munchies) I make an awesome greek yogurt  (more protein and less sugar than regular yogurt) dip with spices of choice (garlic, onion, or veggie mixes to the yogurt) I love soy crisps too...17 soy crisps are a one ounce serving!  That fills you right up for quite a while!  I drink coffee and it doesn't make me hungry at all. But...after my coffee (which I used to use vanilla creme fru-fru.  I replaced the fru- fru with 2 scoops of protein and a little soy milk for a whopping 34 g of protein coffee latte! After a half hour I drink 32 oz of water  to wash out the coffee! I think that coffee makes me thirsty rather than hungry...and drinking water really curbs what you think may be hunger! Try it! You can do this. I lost ten winter pounds just by cutting out the majority of carbsand junk habits I started.  I just can't seem to get lower than my goal weight, but at least I maintain that weight now for 4 years!  I like being my size, even if I'm not a feather weight...but ten extra lbs is VERY uncomfortable no matter what size you were. Cut the carbs and replace with veggies and or proteins...I swear that's all I did.  (A little extra exercise helps too) But I also did the 5DPT to get rid of the carb cravings and was able to gain better control of the carb monster. Even though I did lose a good 7-8 lbs before I did the test...I felt like I was on a diet and was hungry still...after the 5DPT...no more hunger, gas or severe cravings!  And I was able to totally cut all the high glycemic carbs. So that was quite a good feeling.  I knew carbs were bad...but I had no idea just how miserable I felt for quite a while til I cut them out completely.  Night and day!  I promise you will feel awesome just by cutting them out. Now I have complete control when I do have a little rice or potatoes or even chocolate...I just know now I MUST be reasonable and moderate and then I don't feel deprived...But you have to start with the carbs...You really do! Fergit about 'em!!!
