Lead Me Not Into Temptation(I find it myself)
I am, and always have been, food-crazed. Since I was a child I would concern myself with what was for dinner at lunchtime, and have always been a lover of great food. It's no surprise then that as an adult I would find my sore feet firmly planted in the restaurant business. I have been either a waitress or a bartender on and off since high school. Every time I venture out into a "real job", the retsaurant and all of it's chaos... the noise, the aromas, the people, the conversations, the tempermental chefs, the great money... lure me back somehow. I've surrendered to this reality a couple years back and just decided that the restaurant & bar business IS my "real job", and we are stuck with each other.
I left my last restaurant job last year because of pregnancy complications, and have now officially gone back, 11 months later, "to work" in a wildly popular, slightly-upscale, hip, and delicious Italian Eatery in my area. There it is my job to concoct&serve yummy drinks, garlic and cheese covered fantasies-on-a-plate, and a well thought out collection of wines... and to taste, taste, sample, and taste
(for sales purposes only, you understand... a good salesperson MUST be familiar with the product, no?)
. All I can think of is THANK GOD I'll be busy running my tail off! A good waitress or bartender, believe it or not, can clock about 15,000+ steps in a shift because you stay busy busy busy... there isn't a lot of "down time", when there is that's when we get our "work" done!... I am sooo excited to finally get back to work- garlic, calorie-laden platters, chaos and all. Pray for my diet... if you ever thought I'd join in on "Accountability Wednesday" and air my dirty secrets, you can definitely forget it now!...lol

Good luck! I'm a taste tester myself...so I can relate to your fears! But one good thing about working in a place that has a menu is that the smells eventually become so familiar that it loses it's appeal...Hopefully the smells won't tempt you...But you'll need a blind fold for your eyes! LOL...
Good luck! Sounds like fun...
