Thanks Dana! I have no clue what my levels were, all I know is they were in the "normal range" whatever that means, LOL! I guess I should call the office and get the info right away! So, how do the Tender Iron taste when chewed?? (I guess I could just go grab one and give it a try, but if its a terrible taste then I'll throw up!)

They taste like honey and a little tiny bit metalic, but I actaully look forward to them now... I take them twice a day and with chewable vitamin C I drink a full glass of water after...It sometimes leaves a metallic taste after a few minutes if I don't wash my mouth clean...Otherwise I love them!  It have faith that chewing them helps absorption too, but I could be wrong... Nice to see you...you've been gone a while!

Well, figure that we start our bands and proxies on 6 per day (150mg) and go from there. So, I'd say, yeah, at least 6 if you were holding fairly normal. If you didn't start taking iron until anemic, then prolly 10-12 to climb out.

iron with C, alone together for at least an hour
not with caffeine, dairy, eggs, whole grains
any other vites, minerals or meds

However, B12 and copper can enhance.

I aslo prefer iron NOT on empty, if you can. A few bites of fruit or veggie generates more saliva and acid.

Hi Michele... I'm up to 10 a day now of your Tender Iron (but I take one another iron too) (I had to up the dosage a little at a time and that worked like a charm)...and feeling pretty darned good too. No more ice cravings and warmer hands and feet!  I get my Iron tested again in less than two weeks! I'll be happy if I can raise the levels enough to prove that I can do it on my own with your Iron...It tastes so good too....Like little honey candies! I love them! LOL I found in US Patent papers that the little bit of calcium citrate added to the tender Iron does not react with this iron even though any extra supplementation should still be two hours apart...Glad I found that out! I did a ton of research on your Tender Iron and I am soooo impressed with what I have read...First it is non-toxic so you really cannot overdose on it and that gave me TREMENDOUS peace of mind...Second it is probably the purest form of elemental Iron there is...Third, after 20 years of studies, doctors want to replace Ferrous sulfate with this iron because of it's high absorbablity , non toxic and little side effects!   I am pleased as pudding!  I just know that even if I have to get radical treatment to raise my iron and ferritin levels that your iron will keep me there!  I was also very pleased with many of the other vitamins I ordered from you are dry form and no artifical colors, additives or fillers, or preservatives!  Very nice indeed!  An extra bonus I was not expecting!  I just open the capsules and take the powders with water!

Yes, it's magical stuff, all right. And the di-calcium stuff in it is a buffering agent, which is why it doesn't land like a bomb in most ppl.

A biochemist once told me it absorbs so well because blah-blah-blah and the liver sees it as blah-blah-blah. So, you see, I understand THAT totally. LOL What I got was that the molecules are easily absorbed because the liver likes them or something.

I keep waving them in front of my hema, who insists he never heard of it. Did, too, been shoving it at him for years. LOL But I originally saw him for HIGH FERRITIN (nearly 800), and this was all I was taking. How did it get that high? First test was 5 yrs post-op.

And no, I do not have hemachromatosis (genetic disorder, cannot be "caught" from iron pills) and had a liver bx and it was fine, so even that high level was not putting me in any danger.

Took about 5 yrs to spend it down to 100, and then nearly 3 yrs to put it back to 300, which is where I'd like to park it.

Michelle, I don't recall if I mentioned what my ferritin was but it is a 14 and I'm very concerned.  I'll admit I've been a slacker for a while on vitamin**** and miss and definitely more miss than hit on the iron.   Are you suggesting I take 300 mg of Tender?  When I do take them I was taking 6 per day, so what does the 300 equate too?  I take chewable vitamin C with it but haven't taken copper before, guess I should research that one. I order more of the Tender Iron today, glad you have it in stock again......ordered 2 because I know I'll be diligent of getting this up before it gets even worse....this explains my being tired.

Good thing I'm not coming close enough to you in May to slap you upside the head personally, then, huh?

Yes, I take all 12 at once with C and now a copper. 1 = 25mg, so 12 = 300mg. I have not changed the dose for a year or so now and the ferritin continues to rise, even tho the iron itself has gone from 90 to 92 to 93 only. Interesting, no?

Copper is CHEAP to take and too much is bad, but it fixed what I needed fixed on my labs. I am ready to fax to my hema and say "I told ya so" on fixing my CBC with folic and copper. LOL

Oh, now don't freak out if the packaging or texture changes a little. We went to another mfr after this last 6 month wait. Grrr. So, they'll be a bit softer (less compressed), but the content is the same. They sent me a sample that was much like a baby aspirin in texture. One crunch and it melted. But I was afraid after two long trips it might arrive as dust, so I went with the lil bit firmer one.

Don's ferritin came up about 40 pts, but mine leapt up, which I suspect was the added copper. My hema doesn't like it at 300, so while I fixed one thing and I think 300 is dandy (when it's not an accident), that will take the fun out of "told ya so" a little.

He thinks I'm amusing anyway. I only need to see him once/yr and I gave him the choice of winter, when I am not really all that lively or fresh outta the conference when he can't shut me up. LOL
