Hello WLS Grads!
I would like to introduce myself to those who don't know me and my hernia family. My name is CarolynK! I am now 13 months out and have been lurking over here since I was about 11 months out. In fact I lurk here and on RNY and R&R (have to have my laughs you know)
Babette is my large incisional hernia and she has a family of little ones that are getting relocated hopefully in the next couple of months. We are waiting on approval for TT along with the hernia repair. I am into week 4 of an estimated 6 week approval wait. There should not be a real problem with the approval because the skin around my incision (I had open RNY with complications) is not in good enough shape to do the repair without the TT. It is too thin.
My loss has slowed way down but part of that is due to the fact that I can not do much exercising because of Babette! But even then I can tell I am losing inches. I had to take my watch band in again and my jeans are just plain baggy! If it weren't for Babette they would be falling off!
I am sticking to my program 95% of the time and I don't beat myself up the other 5%, just get back on the plan. I can each much more then I should, but I don't. I am satisfied with a "normal" whatever that is portion, instead of the eat till stuffed!
Like others I think I am failing on occasion but at the same time, I know better. I have lost a whole lot of weight since my highest and plan on keeping it off. It has inspired my DH into watching his weight and his diabetes! He has lost 15 pounds in 3 months and plans on keeping it off! Yipeeeeeee Skipeeeee!
I also know that I am going to need support getting off these last 20-30 pounds. I may not be a prolific poster but I do read everyday and respond when I have something to add.
With that I want to thank you all for being here for the rest of us! You Rock!
Hello,
I am in a similar situation. We affectionately named my recurrent incisional hernia Herbie. he is very large about the size of a football. I am scheduled on May 16, 2008 to get it repaired along with abdominal muscle repair and removal of stretched out skin. I am having a hard time with exercising as well. I can not wait to fianlly get this repaired. I was supposed to get it repaired in April of 2007 but they were not able to do the repair work at that time because of a massive infection caused by an abcess. I had a very stressful 2007 between my Mom and Dad they both had to have surgery and hospital stays. I have put on about 25 lbs. that I really need to get back off. I am hoping that once i get this surgery taken care of and get through the six week recovery time I will be able to get back to exercising on a more regular schedule.
Good luck and hang in there you will make it.
