Accurate but inexpensive scale

I'd like to know if there is an inexpensive scale that anyone recommends. I don't want to spend more than $40 on a scale, but if I am going to buy one I want to know it's accurate. I'm 9 months post-op and didn't want a scale before because I thought I would get obsessed with the numbers, but not having weighed myself since my 6 month post-op visit makes me want to weigh myself now! Any advice would be great!

I'd suggest a digital scale, one that uses a battery. These are far more accurate than the old analog scales, with the round dials. I got a Health-O-Meter one for about $20.  I saw other digital scales in the Sunday paper ads under $20 bucks too.  I checked my scale with my surgeons $2500 scale, and it read the same weight, so I was happy with it's accuracy.  Whatever scale you get, you can use that for relative weight loss or weight gain.  Any scale can weigh a pound or two different that another scale, but the comparison weights on the same scale are what your'e after. You want to know about weight gain or weight loos--monitoring your weight at home.  That's why I bought my scale too. I had an older doctor office scale, platform to stand on and a 4 foot pedestal where the dial was located. This scale would weigh up to 450 pounds and you could read it without tipping backwards.  Since your now 9 months post op , I'd assume you're under 300 pounds, which is the normal limits of home scales. So any digital scale should work for you in your price range.

I love my Tanita. Check amazon.com, they have several models.

I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon and bought the least expensive of the Health-o-meter scales. I assumed that since I can calculate my BMI on OH there was no need to pay an extra $20 for the scale to do it for me! I don't know if I can say it's accurate; it's way off from the one that I used in the weight room the other day, which was like the ones at the doctor's office where you slide the weights back and forth until it balances. But I trust this one more even if it's a higher number.

I love anything with the Tanita brand   I dont think mine was expensive even though they can be     I went to bed bath & beyond and literally tested everyone to see which gave the same conistant reading   I was amazed how much my weighed fluxed on some scales by just getting off & on again    I also think the digitals work best & the ones with higher weighing limits seem to be more accurate Good luck Diana
