What are good no carb snacks?
I eat a single serving of cheese (cheese stick, 1 oz) and a slice of roasted turkey breast wrapped around it. Total carbs for the two pieces is less than 3 grams.
When I get hungry, it's still usually thirst and so I get something to drink before I try and eat anything. That way I can be sure the pouch is empty. I like SoBe (South Beach) Living Way water packets. Good stuff with fiber and protein, I think.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Hi, Gail! One of my recent favorites is homemade egg salad made w/ either fat-free or low-fat mayo on leaf lettuce; it's fast, easy and delicious. I'll make a batch of egg salad on the weekend, portion it into single serving containers, then it's ready to go when I'm packing my lunch.
I'd like to offer one comment about snacks, which is that I tend to get longer satiation/satisfaction when I eat snacks that contain a combination of good carbs, fats, and protein. I think that's because it takes our body different amounts of time to break down carbs, fats, and protein into usable component, so we're satisifed for a longer period of time. It's my understanding that this also helps keep our blood sugar levels pretty even...
Some of my "combo" snacks include things like:
- low-fat cottage cheese w/ sugar-free preserves and fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries - whatever you like)
- apple w/ a couple cheese sticks or a tbsp. of peanut butter
- banana w/ a small yogurt or a tbsp. of peanut butter
- egg salad on whole-grain toast or half a multigrain English muffin
- toasted cheese on whole-grain bread w/ low-fat cheese
Anyway, just a suggestion about some things that may help keep your hunger at bay! Good luck on your continuing journey -
Kellie
