It Still Works!!
Last Sunday I went to a fashion show/luncheon with a friend.
There was a great luncheon spread of a Chicken Salad, followed by an entree of two small crab cakes and a very small filet mignon.
I ate about 3 bites of the chicken breast on the salad along with about three bites of the salad greens (the chicken was too dry, so I left most of it).
I managed to eat one crab cake of the entree and then found my nose starting to run. This means I'm "full"!!
I tried a tiny bite of the filet, but had to leave the rest. Oh yeah, I ate a dutch crust bun. (I don't usually eat bread)
I hate to waste food, but I've learned that the "starving children in Africa" won't get the leftovers anyway!
I told my roommate that I was too full and couldn't eat anymore, and she is aware of my tiny capacity so wasn't too surprised, but my neighbor at the table looked at me as if I were mentally miswired!! So funny to see how other people react!
I've been having trouble getting myself motivated to exercise, but finally took the time to do what is right for myself. I recently started working a job as a customer service rep and I'm much too sedentary now--I really need to get moving. Now that the weather is better I am hoping to get outdoors and walk more. That might help my mental attitude.
Hope everyone is doing well!
You're a year ahead of me and I'm happy to hear that you still have a little belly. I really can't hold much more than I could at 6 months post-op and tend to get sicker now than I did then if I eat too much or eat the wrong things. I wonder sometimes if it's because I'm not used to eating so much grease and sugar, and it's not because of the RNY. Don't know, but I'm glad it's that way. I need all the help I can get. We had a staff lunch yesterday, where I became really mad because they're cutting our benefits waaay down after 26 years at this place, and normally I'd have eaten the whole tray of sandwiches. Everybody watches me now, to see what I eat. I ate 1/2 chicken salad sandwich on wheat and left off the top piece of bread, a couple bites of broccoli salad and one baked potato chip and I was about to bust. You know what's really great?? Here I am 47 years old and I'm apparently going to have to look for another job, and a couple of years ago I would have been scared because of my appearance (you know what I mean, the 340-pound woman who has to wear stretch moo-moos and flat shoes and has no self confidence at all), and I won't be that way anymore. Yippee for me. Didn't mean to ramble so long. Congratulations on your success and good luck with that exercise. :)
