a year and half out and start to eat all the time help
Hi Kim. We had WLS about the same time, and I've had the same experience as you. Right after surgery, I could only hold 1/4 cup of yogurt and it stayed there in my egg for hours. I still can't hold much at a time (a little over a cup), but I can go again after 30 minutes or so. I've had some counseling in this area, and I've been told the first and hardest step is to recognize that you need to make changes, and you've done that. The second step is to find the reason you're gaining and losing control. When I get that way, I log my food on sparkpeople. I had gained a few pounds a couple of weeks ago and found that I was taking in over 2000 calories a day, which is about 400 more than my maximum allowance. (Surprise!) I eat little bits all through the day, but I somehow went from 6-8 meals/snacks a day to 9-12. I cut out a couple of those extra snacks and as of today the extra pounds have disappeared. I'm a carb addict. I could live on mac & cheese and sweets, even though they make me a little sick. And really all that does is make me hungry faster. If you'll schedule your meals, eat the right things at the right times, your cravings will probably be gone within a week. And be sure to follow the rules - 3 bites of protein, 2 bites of veggies, 1 bite of carbs. If you do that, you probably won't have much room left for the carbs. Last night I made the best mashed potatoes, with cheese & sour cream, and by the time I ate my 3 oz of meat and 2 oz of green beans, I only had room for one bite of the potatoes, which is really the right thing, but it made me a little mad. I'd rather eat 3 bites of potatoes, 2 bites of meat and 1 bite of green beans, but then my butt and thighs would start growing again. It makes a huge difference for me to work out every morning before I get ready for work. Just get up and get it over with, and that way you don't have to worry about something keeping you from doing it later. I know it's hard, I'm going through it too, but we don't have to fail at this. We just have to keep working. :)
