NEW to the Grad board...
Hi all... I am new to this board...I have been a member of OH for over 7 years..Had GBS on 2/23/01,then had tummy tuck and breast augmentation 2/02. foloowed that up with getting pregnant and having a wonderful daughter in 2003. I am currently a little over 7 years out and until the last 18months I managed to keep my weight off,but it is starting to pile on fairly rapidly..though I will add,I am failing the surgery..it has not failed me. I am on track for relosing 25lbs now (was 30lbs)so I thought I would come here and see how others manage to stay motivated..so far I love the posts, they alone help and I have also started the 5day plan. keep me in your prayers : )
Wanda...thanks. I am determined to lose these 25lbs...Its really scary though...Last year I lost back down to 145 and thought I was on my way,but lost momentum...I am hoping that I will continue this time...The key for me is exercise and lay off the wine in the evening..I find myself a couple of nights a week having 2-3 glasses of wine...so I think that alone has helped in the gain,so now I will just limit myself to 2 glasses on friday evening with dinner....I am still fairly consistant on my not eating sweets or alot of high fat foods, but mainly because my pouch will not allow me to do otherwise...for this I am grateful. I know so may GB patients that have gained most or all of their weight back,so I definitely know its do able. How are you doing on your loss, are you still losing? gonna read your profile ,hope you are having a great day..gina
Welcome, and kudos to you for working hard to get the weight off!!!
At lease you realize the most important reason for the weight gain, you, and you are already taking steps to change. Woo-hoo! With that kind of attitude you will be successful. For all of us who had the surgery, we realize we are all just a spoon full away from falling into bad habits. But we can change, and encourage each other to do right inspite of obsticles.
We are here to cheer you on!
blessings,
Tami

Hi Gina...
Welcome! I know you are certainly not alone in gaining and I am glad you found your way here...You'll find many of us have eventually found ourselves off track and aware that gaining weight back is not only a possiblity but a real fact! It doesn't take much to find yourself on the gaining side...but it is a little trickier to lose it as we forget that we will never lose like we did newly post op and have to lose like we did when dieting was so hard that we found ourselves having surgery in the first place...
Get back on track with the 5 DPT! You sound like someone who could use that new post op feeling again and get back to the way you should be eating. It worked to get me back on track...I'm four + years post op...and maintained my weight with minor fluxes all this time. I have gained enough to scare the bejesus outta me and make me realize that if I didn't get control over my bad eating habits and break them...I'd be crying some big tears...and I've finally found peace in my life...I don't need that drama now! LOL
Start journaling and weighing your food too if you really want to see some revealing info about yourself and the food you eat! ;)
I wish you much luck

That's so great to hear ! "RELOSING" 25 lbs ! I too had some regain. Now at 5 yrs + working on getting it back off again. So far I'm stuck at relosing 20 lbs. Anita is so right isn't she? How too well do we find it does not come off as easy as in the beginning. Definately, the 5 day plan was a great starter for me as well. I actually thought my surgery wasn't working anymore until I "reset it" I like to believe anyway. Atleast, thru our experience we know enough to stop the regain now & do something about it. I try to keep myself motivated by making it fun again & get excited about the surgery as if I just had it. Bottom line is play by the rules one day at a time. Prayers & take care.
hi and welcome to the grads board.
posting here is always a good sign, it shows that you are aware and want to make changes.
im only 21 months out and so far i have maintained, but i worry every day. maybe thats a good thing, i dont know.
i would try the 5 day pouch test, everyone says they have great success with it. oops i see you have already.
i also started tracking my food intake on one of the online trackers, such as fitday, the daily plate, or i use sparkpeople.
its amazing where some of the calories and fat come from. but it also keeps u honest when u have to journal your food intake.
i wish you much luck and i know you will get that weight off.
hugs, jacki
