Scary TV

I am watching a show called Half Ton Hospital about Brook Haven Hospital helping obese people.  I say scary tv, because I recognise that this could have been me....people who have become too big even for wls. I understand that fear of being unable to lose weight and the fear that the more one tries to lose weight the more weight is gained. I am even more grateful that I was able to have wls before it got too late.....and even more determined NOT to gain back what I have lost and more.  It is exaclty what I needed to see, to keep me on the road to normal bmi for the rest of my life and not just for a fleeting moment.

Hi Ruth, I've seen the Brookhaven shows here also.  The director is very anti-surgical weight loss.  I don'****ch the show anymore because of his negative attitude towards our surgery.  It is so heart breaking to see those people who could be helped left to remain super MO and dying a slow death.  Just my $0.02 worth!!! Hi Cindy I've just finished watching it - the administrator is very anti wls isn't he - kept calling it a quick fix - well it certainly isn't that.   I agree, how heart breaking to see people that could be helped, told to just diet and exercise.  If ti were that simple, we could have all done that years ago.  Mindyou, for some of the people on the show I dont' think wls would have been successful either as their addiction to food was too great - one man paid people to smuggle food into him, so actually gained weight while in hospital. It must be a good feeling in your job to know you have helped people on the road to a healthier, new life.

I've seen these show too! And I'm also grateful I didn't allow myself to get that far. I knew I was going in that direction (Already needed special seat belts and couldn't shop in "regular" stores) And knew it was time for a change.  I personally wish theyd shown more sucess stories, but I guess that's life. I felt so bad for the guy having food smuggled in to him. His addiction is defiatly going to kill him.
