You know my motto knowlegde is power...I so believe it. Now make sure you get your iron in check I think we are going to live a very long time...you need to make sure to get Vit D3 and calcium/mag as well to keep your bones healthy to support your frame...you don't want to have you boob****ting the ground because you can't stand up straight.
Love ya, so take care of yourself.
Current weight:120 and still 5'4
I have osteoporis at almost 4 years out. I've been taking Fosamax for 3 years. My bone density continued to decline. I do not absorb the Fosamax. I got the IV Reclast at the end of December. It's a once a year thing. We'll see how my bone density is in December. I've always been good about taking my cal citrate with D and magnesium, supplemental D3. My Vit D levels are always good. My PTH is slightly elevated and they have no clue why. No nodules or tumors, just 4 gland hyperplasia. I think I don't absorb the calcium very well either as my calcium levels are always normal. With an elevated PTH, the CA should be elevated also. Go figure.
I think there's a lot they don't know about the complications to RNY as we get further out.
Yes, I already had osteopenia before surgery. But also had the elevated PTH before surgery also. My mom has osteoporis but she's a little bitty thing. Considering I was obese, it's pretty surprising I had thinning bones. But then, my body does some pretty strange things. If there is a 1% chance of a side effect, I'll have it.
I see you are from Washington? We going to Seattle the first part of May. Never been there before. We've been to Portland, but not Washington state. Any must do's or must see's besides the Space Needle? We'll be staying right downtown at the Mayflower.
