Advice on healthy snacks
From a local health food store. The store by me is Clarks Nutrition in Riverside, CA, and there is a place called Henry's or Henries in Hemet, CA also. Clarks also has a web site www.clarksnutrition.com where they sell them too. They are $1.35 per pound, and sold in bulk, so you can buy as little or as much as you want. Be careful though, I've seen some online stores that charge around $4 for a 5 or 6 oz plastic bag--big rip off. These come in a 20 pound bag to my local store, and it's $27 for the whole bag. Bag fills about 4 one gallon containers. They're actually good tasing too.

thanks for the information Dave. I have to say as I've completely changed my eating lifestyle to only healthy foods, I'm very envious of you West Coast people who have large grocery type nutrition/health food stores! :) We only have a handful of Whole Food stores in our area, hopefully that changes in the future now that people are more aware of added food ingredients.
Can't wait to try them :)

LIke I said you can order them through the Internet, or may be call them and place an order over the phone. They don't weigh very much, so shipping shouldn't be too high. I'm going down to buy another 20 pound box today, as the last bin we have is almost empty.

My nut. wanted me to eat every two hours in the beginning too but I discarded the notion of regular meals and snacks. I retrained my thinking towards 'feedings' instead. To me, a 'main meal' constituted a heckuvalot more food than 2 oz! To this day, I am so much more satisfied with my smaller portions because unlike 'regular' people who only get to eat three times a day and then feel guilty about their snacks...I am allowed to eat SIX times a day! Woohoo! Getting rid of guilt has gone a long way to helping me deal with my obsessive food relationship.
Don't limit yourself to just hard cheeses, there is so much fat in them and why keep that kind of food in your diet when you can be learning to live without it now? That being said, some of my early mini feedings were things like Frigo Light mozz sticks, or 1/4-1/3 cup nonfat cottage cheese with 1 tsp. sf jam mixed in, 1/4-1/3 cup nonfat ricotta cheese with a tab. of marinara or pizza sauce, tuna that had been blenderized with mild salsa (ulcer issues). I personally ate very little fruit the first few months on nut's orders...protein was the primary importance and still is. In fact, at our last support group meeting we all got a re-education because of the poor lady who asked if any of us in the room who were at goal ate popcorn and did it feel ok. Before any of us got a chance to answer her, the nut asked if she was eating that popcorn AFTER she got in all her 70g protein.
