I am still trying to figure the weight bouncing thing.  I am 15 months post op and have been as low as 126.  I stayed there with an occanssional bounce to 131.  I had a rough March with tons of family birthdays and carb give ins.  The past week I have been crankin' the protein, water and picked up a little more exercise.  Been staying away from carbs and been a good girl.  Here's the question: I have heard that you go to a low number and then come back up a little and that is where your body will stay if you continue to follow the rules...........true? If true, would you mind sharing your personal low and where you are at now? THANKS!

Many doctors feel that there is a certainly percent of "bounceback" weight (10-15%) of loss. It is not a hard and fast rule for everyone. I won't use me or hubby as an example.  We've regained a bit since lowest weight but have had lots of personal/health/family issues and it's take a toll.  It is explainable.  We just need to "work this tool" and we know it. Weight fluctuations of 1-5 lbs for me have always been normal even in a 24 hour period. Kathy

Thanks!  I guess I am wondering if 130 will be my weight if I keep on the straight and narrow and that 126 was the low weight for me.  Time will tell, right!

Sandra, I'll share.   I lost rather quickly, reached goal in 9 months and continued to lose until my 1 year anniversary.  My goal weight was 130 lbs, I lost down to 119 lbs (not a good weight, I looked sick) and stayed there for several months.  I then leveled out at 123-125 lbs (my new goal) and stayed there for approximately 15 months, started eating and not monitoring myself regained to 134.9 lbs (I swore I'd never go over 130 lbs, never say never).  With the 5 day pouch test, I got below 130 lbs, started using fitday faithfully and was at 126 lbs.  Once again I could see the carbs tempting me daily, another round of the 5 day pouch test and the past 3 weeks I'm staying in the 122-125 lb range. There are many that have a leveling out in weight by a few lbs, then the bounceback that some experience also (approx 10% regain).

Hey! My personal goal was 160.  I got to 168 the first year and stayed there for a long time...Long plateaus...then I got my first bad cold and lost another 10lbs that month...and was at 158!  So I hit that goal at about 18 months...(I have it written somewhere when that happened, but too lazy to look it up!)  Anyway...no sooner did I get healthy again....I was up to about 162  (+4 lbs) and stayed there all summer...but winter...I was up again to 165-168....Then summer I go back down to 162-165.  It's been the same thing every year since I leveled off.   You can say I gained back 7-8 lbs from the intitial lowest weight and settled in at an average of 165.   I think it was a fluke since I was sick and not eating right...But it is what it is...and I weighed 158 for a few days!  LOL  I have gotten as high as 178 too...and again...I think that was just a terrible fluke because I had a 5-6 day bout of constipation that left me terrible bloated and swollen!  It was awful!  Again...For the records...I have fluccuated between 20 lbs...However...more normally and accurately I only flux between 162 and 168....With a main average of 165.  That is exactly 7 lbs over my lowest recorded weight since surgery! (on average)  Hope that helps.  OH!  And...My skin has tightened up over the 4 years too so I look better now than I did 7 lbs lighter! LOL I dunno! Anita

I spoke to someone at support group about this..bouncing around isn't the goal..maintaining is the goal. If you can maintain where you are and have control over it, you're doing good. If you want to adjust that down a few pounds and can maintain there, and you can, you're doing good.  I got down to below my surgeon's goal for me at 11 months. I've been down 6 pounds from there and floating right around where I was at 11 months since then. Goal for me (according to my doctor) was 125. I was at 122. Low down to 116, where I definately look sick at 5 ft 5 inches. Now I'm hovering around 120 but I'm attempting to GRADUALLY bring that up to 125 and maintain there. it's not as easy as it looks for some of us.  I think some of us are over achievers in WLS and will get really low at a year or 18 months out. Then when we're settled into the routine of things, some relaxation weight comes back (a couple of pounds, depending on the person).
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Thank you!  I am 5'4" and I am suppose to be inbetween 109-140 on the chart.  I like the idea of 120-125 but I am thrilled with 130 also.  I have been here since October 2007.  Thanks again!

RNY on 11/15/05 with
Sandra; My lowest ever was 129. That was this past January after a week of travel and the stress of dealing with a colleague being fired for something that I was reported to HR to have witnessed (when I finally found out what happened, the only thing I had to do with it is I was in the same restaurant). Otherwise, I've pretty much been 130-133 since May 2007. I've had two instances where I bounced up to 137 - once after 9 days of vacationing at a beach house with friends (too many delicious meals cooked with care by my friends so I felt compelled to eat something that each person had made) and then again when I was recovering from PS and couldn't exercise. I intend to weigh 3-4x/week the weeks I'm at home (still traveling a lot). This week, I've been somewhat forgetful and have only weighed once. This morning the scale said 133, so I've increased my protein, increased my water and am watching the carbs. I realize I need to get my butt back to the gym, but it's just not in the cards for me right now and I'm able to manage my weight well without maintaining a regular workout schedule. Many people will tell you a 10-15% bounceback is normal. I don't buy it and will fight it with every ounce of my being. I know I'm well under my goal and I intend to stay here as long as I physically can. I still see a fat person in the mirror and there is no way I'm going to gain above 133 and not take an active role in doing something to take that weight off.
Blessings, Jennifer
