stop grazing! that's the behavior that got us where we are in the first place. okay, on a gentler and more realistic side, try the less-bad for you snacks. like fruit, veggies (baby carrots anyone?), nuts, dried fruit and string cheese (handy pre-packaged sizes). i'm over 2 years out and found myself grazing recently on too much candy and chocolate. diet sodas, chips, crackers, all the bad stuff. not surprising that i've put back on 10lbs. of unecessary weight. so i'm all over the green tea and gum-chewing as a way to curb the cravings. not to mention giving myself a good hard mental check before i reach for the chips. am i bored? tired? actually hungry? why am i eating again? i've noticed that if i get enough sleep, eat 3 regular meals, keep myself mentally stimulated (hard to do with a boring job) and exercise, i don't over-eat. um, yeah, basically that means taking really good care of myself. its an on-going struggle. eh, i miss the days of not being hungry and hating food. it's becoming too easy to slip into bad (old) habits! -kari
My new snack: microwaved turkey pepperoni and Laughin Cow Light French Onion Cheese......the pepperoni are crunchy like a chip so it tames the desire for something crunchy. My other standbys: cottage cheese, 2% cheese, beef jerkey.
