Just wondering where Kathy is.  I got my workout in today.  The office lost electricity for 2 hours so I went to the gym.  Here is my fitness journal post: Electricity went off at the office.  Went and worked out.  Warmed up with 4 laps then every other lap I ran for 30 laps then I did upper body, 3 sets of 12 and finished up with 6 walking laps.  Total of 25 laps walking and 15 running.  Work out lasted 68 minutes. Average heart rate was 160 and Max heart rate was 188.  I have stepped 9378 steps today and it is only 1:43. I know that the scale will not be moving quickly while I am making these changes, but I still get discouraged.  I would love to be in the 180's!  I am excited that I have begun running.  I will probebly continue what I am doing this week and then next week I will maybe run 2 laps and walk one instead of running every other lap.  I average about 20 minutes of strength training in a day,  Any opinions out there as to how much time I should be doing that?  I do 3 sets of 12 and alternate upper and lower body days.   Waiting here for Kathy. Movers, come on and post.   I hope Kathy has some wonderful words of inspration for me.

Hi Dana thanks for posting - maybe Kathy has been snowed in??? I've been very lazy over the Easter weekend.  Today is a holiday, so went to see family.  The only workout I got was to lug an armchair up to my fathers room in the care home from the basement!! I too am trying to up my running.  When I'm at work I usually do a combination of walking/running for the mile home.  I'd like to work that up to running the whole mile.  Doing laps is a good way to regulate how much running and walking you do and increase the running.  I'm going to try and get my hubbie and daughter to come out running with me over the school break to see if I can run further. At least I avoided the Easter candy today and went back to eating basics.

Hi Ruth, Google and there are a lot of websites out there showing you how to get started with running. I know there is a right way and wrong way.  I too, had wanted to run but dropped it when I realized my knees were mush..  I still have people telling me to go for it.  I want to do a 1/2 marathon before I die.. Research, it's like anything else, we you need to know how before you jump in there.  I am told one of the most important things to do if you are going to run, is go to a running shoe shop and they will help you pick a good running shoe. Take care, Kathy

Hi Dana, I am not worthy    I am not worthy    I am not worthy   Forgive me, the boards had some interesting stuff from the weekend and we were very busy with all that.  So I didn't get a chance to post until now... Dana, PM me and let's talk ok? Thanks for filling in for me and getting the group going.  Although, there appears to not be many movers and losers here.  Maybe that is why we put on weight....hmmmmmm Take care, Kathy
