Regaining Weight

Does anyone have any suggestions of good tasting stuff to eat/drink to gain weight? I'm currently 5'4" and have been bouncing around 111-113 lbs for the past three weeks. I thought I was too thin at 115. I'd like to get to 120 - 125. I'm hesitant to go out and buy normal/high calorie protein shakes, mainly because I've hated the taste of shakes in the past, and I can never seem to get the clumps out.

I've already added healthy snacks to my diet for in between meals, and I drink something (not a lot) with food so I can eat more often. I don't want to break the pouch rules like this, but I don't know what else to do.

Thanks to anyone in advance!

I'd go to some of the muscle building nutrion shops. They normally stock high protein, but higher calorie shakes.  I've never had a problem with clumps using the Magic Bullet machine for making shakes. Even chops up berries nicely to add to the shakes.  If you need to put on a little weight, you might try these, but look at sugars too, especially if they cause you to dump.

I wish I could find the blender part of my Magic Bullet! I have all the cups laying around, but the blender has gone missing.

I've tried the pre-mixed Muscle Milk and it's not that bad. I just can't drink very much of a thick liquid. The texture starts to get to me. (It's the same when I order things like lattes. I'll only drink a 1/4th of the cup because I get sick of it so fast.)

Thanks for your reply! I need to go search through the house for the bottom of my blender.

If you can't find the blender blade portion, I'd try to contact the company. See if there is a name or phone number on the bottom of the motor body. I'm sure they'd be willing to sell (or possibly give) you another mixing part. There are two types of blades, the flat profile, and the one with the upturned blades. I use the upturned blades for my shakes, and I think the flat ones are for chopping nuts or something. I bought mine for shakes, and never really looked at all the instructions.  If the texture is too thick, have you tried mixing with jus****er?  Or just mixing a little less powder with the same liquid, ie, making it thinner in texture??

How about adding some healthy fats?   RNYes malabsorb about 30 percent of the fat they eat, but  the 70 percent on calorie dense fat, might help you regain.  Scott

I've been eating nuts almost daily, crackers, and I've even added a slice of crumb cake every day! I add avacado to so many things and use full fat salad dressings.  My problem is that I really don't eat much. I eat no meals, just a little food here and there all day. My pouch can't fit anything that resembles a "meal" So I just pick. I don't like the feeling I get when my pouch feels full so I almost never go there. I can eat almost a whole slice of pizza, and at that point my pouch feels full. This is my first month trying to "stop the losing" so I'll see if it works... I don't want to gain, just stop losing.

Hi Jill i just had to post to you because  i understand ....how you feel. i know that feeling.... i am the same way i do not like that full feeling. i don't eat normal size meals i can not fit all the food in and eat a normal size meal so i rather grazes all day long. I eat here and there ... picking on healthy good foods throughout the day I eat small amounts of food every 2 - 3 hours. this is what i've been doing. and I am almost 4 years post op ... this keeps me on track ! hugss Lizzy

I know what you mean by that "full" feeling in your pouch. I can't eat very much before it hits me. I do eat regular meals though - eating is still social for me. I go out to eat with co-workers a lot for lunch, and then dinner is the time where me and my husband can sit down and talk about our day. I don't eat much at those meals though.

I *really* need to figure out some really high calorie snacks before backpacking season starts, or my weight is really going to plummet. (You can easily burn 4000 - 6000 calories in just one day of backpacking, and we're in the mountains, so there are a lot of elevation changes.)
